Arsenal thread | 2025/26

Is it true you’re a massive ****?

The fucking cheek of an Arsenal fan commenting on a keeper blagging injury so the team can have a team talk.

Na mate, I'm quite small in stature.

And that was the point of my post, as that's something people hate about us.

Oh, there was definitely irony in my post, because It's people complaining about Arsenal tactics and stuff they do that made me bring it up, like we are the only 1 that do these things and their teams would never resort to them, which is obviously not true.

Was a good weekend for irony, because I noticed that Liverpool scored off a long throw, despite Slot complaining about them and we haven't actually scored from any. Also Utd getting both goals from set pieces despite most of their fan base calling us Stoke FC and thinking we play long balls, even though we are 2nd last for long balls played and and they are actually 2nd for long balls played.
I must have missed all those posts from you calling out your own team over the past few seasons for doing this.

Over to you Arsenal
Pressure is now increased with the gap down to two points from a inconsistent City team.
You better hope we cant perform decent in both halfs of a match.

Leeds as well in the 70's. Only a youngster in their prime years but what little football that was on tv I'm pretty sure they did it relentlessly. Especially, but not only, Bremner.
Practically the whole dirty Leeds team was a dirty bastard.

Johnny Giles had a penchant for raking his studs down opponents' Achilles heels, but as you said, Bremner was the worst. He’s still the non-rag that I despise the most of any player.

Don Revie reckoned Giles was by far the worst but when I think of that team, Norman Hunter comes to mind immediately.

Out of curiosity how old do you have to be to remember this, or is a story handed down from father to son?

The only reference point I have is the Damn United film, which Brian's missus said it did him a diservice

Think if we won 1-5 last night Arsenal might be worried but Fulham coming back like that and how frail will looked can’t see Arsenal panicking anytime soon

I’m 63 and I can remember events from the second half of the 1969/70 season.

City losing 0-3 to West Brom, then beating them 2-1 in the League Cup final three weeks later.
City winning the ECWC in Vienna, though I never saw anything of the game at the time.
The Cup final and subsequent replay between Chelsea and dirty Leeds, when both teams tried to maim their opponents for life.

I saw them. Every player bar, possibly, Eddie Gray was a dirty cynical bastard. Revie even did dossiers to inform his team what each referee was lenient on. Never did two consecutive fouls to avoid bookings (no cards then). I think Leeds are the template that Arteta has based his football on alongside Stoke and Wimbledon.........and gone even further.
Before you reply let me tell you that Gabriel would probably be the captain of that side.
