Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

So if you play him centrally he needs to get in ahead of either Odegaard or Eze if in an attacking role, or Rice, Zubimendi, Merino if in a less advanced position. Not going to happen just like Gyokeres/Havertz are never getting in ahead of Haaland.
You said he wouldn’t get in your B TEAM ffs

Interesting video by Robbie from AFTV regarding Everton fans being upset about the chants from the Everton fans. OK, get this but Scousers boo the national anthem which pisses off most other fans so if you dish it out you need to be able to take it when it comes back.

I think your first sentence should have an "Arsenal" in there, instead of two "Evertons".

We were literally 1 point off you in one season and 4 in your treble season. If this had been given as a penalty we'd have won the league (just in case the usual diatribe that refs are against City comes out which it frequently seems to from the short of memory on here).

Since then our squad has improved drastically. So in theory we would have been better equipped in those 2 seasons and therefore if Arteta can't win it vs a City side that's not at the level of the one that just pipped us to the title, despite us spending a fortune on the squad since then, then he has to go.
It was never a penalty.

Jérémy didn’t even touch Mac Allister, as he pulled his leg back from the challenge.

More "if my auntie had balls…" nonsense.

I don’t really know why we bother. Adebayor put the all-time-and-forever stake in the heart of City vs Arsenal like 15 years ago. No matter what happens in the future — trophies either of us win — as long as I live, that goal, which led to the creation of the greatest GIF in football history, is at the top of the one-upmanship pyramid, never to be topped. It’s my favo(u)rite City goal of all time — even surpassing Aguerooooo — because this is just a game after all. Getting personal revenge on those specific people who racially abused you is eternal.

Fuck off forever, Arsenal.

Nothing will ever top Agüeroooooooooo! but I get where you’re coming from.

Of course. But that goal was for Mancs especially and City fans generally and all the rivalry vs the rags has meant to them, and for neutrals who are fans of the sport.

Adebayor’s goal was for humankind.

Probably not due to system but if you used City's system and replaced Doku with Trossard, Silva with Saka and Gonzalez with Rice then Haaland would score more goals just based on quality of delivery.

You could argue also that sticking Odegaard in there would lead to a lot more goals given they play for Norway together but I wouldn't replace Foden with Odegaard so it might not be a good fit.
Away and don't post pish.

Thing is our fans said we were lucky with that by Doku, also we have a week of the media talking about it should have been a pen! Where as Liverpool Arsenal and the rags won’t even get a mention if anything they’d talk about why it was right not to be given a penalty!

Forever be our feeder team

You've defended well the last few games but before that it was keystone cops stuff at the back. So we need to take a longer view.
None of us are centurion or triple winning material, we both have faults and I think 85 points will win the league this year. I would rather have keystones cops at the back than PC Plod firing blanks upfront.

Fair enough. It hardly needs saying that I want us to win, and think we're capable of it. Although my deep feeling is that this side will come to its full fruition next season rather than this.
Anyway… veritas filia temporis, as the saying goes.
Who would have thought a poster with a user name like “lovebitesandeverything” would quote Shakespearean Latin proverbs on this forum???

He literally does every game. Just faster and more effectively. Come on man, you seriously can't be comparing Bernardo Silva with Saka! Today's Silva wouldn't get into our Carabao cup side!

He and Saka are totally different and play totally different roles
Just as I know Bernardo isn’t a wide player that will continue threatening the full back, I know Saka isn’t a player to cover 14km plugging holes

Don’t be confusing him with some basic analysis. Let him wallow in the belief that 6 time Premier League winner, Champions League winner, 2 x FA Cup winner, multiple Carabao Cup winner, Pep’s chosen captain, and most importantly Scouse nemesis Bernardo Silva couldn’t get into serial bottler’s Arsenal’s B team ahead of *checks notes* Christian Norgaard

Its quite simple for me, as it stands it's a very tight race, and hard to pick between the teams. If City continue to improve, especially in terms of their defending and giving up of chances, then Arsenal would need to improve likewise in their attacking and creating / finishing of chances.

If you asked me what was more likely, I'd say City improving their defensive side over us improving our attacking. We can do it, I remember the attacking side of our game improving greatly post Dubai trip in 23/24 after a quite a quite stodgy first half of that season, but yeah that's the sort of levels we'd need to hit.

Now that makes sense. City are more likely than Arsenal to win the league.

I don't get the maths here. Arsenal aren't great at attacking, City haven't been as solid at the back, we've played 17 games and Arsenal are 2 points ahead despite the aforementioned. So how exactly does this make City more likely to win the league? Assuming the status quo remains Arsenal would win the title by 5 points. For that to change one of the 2 sides has to either get better from here on in or get worse. Knowing what's more likely is guesswork, albeit City do have form for going on epic runs.
