Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

It's all over social media, so it must be true, right? Nothing on the BBC or Sky Sports apps, or on the FPL app.
Arteta is like Pep insomuch as he gives nothing away about injuries, which is why the main media haven’t reported it.

Then you try to find anything that you’ve found a bit reliable in the past to gauge how true something is.

Rice has picked up an injury and will be out for a while.

We are fucked. Rice is 100% the one player we couldn't afford to get injured as his replacements are shite, he was clearly in discomfort against Brighton but Arteta kept him on anyway. Idiotic.
Jesus, I feel for you. I can’t even imagine having to play without your best defensive midfielder for a few games. How are you ever going to cope?

So you will probably have to settle for a couple of £50m+ midfielders instead of a £50m and a £110m pair. Will be ok with your £50m winger on one side with world class dogs bollocks Saka on the other side. All feeding the £80m centre forward. At least you’ll have the best pair of centre backs the world has ever seen behind them flanked by a couple of £50m full backs. If that doesn’t come off you have your £50m best keeper in Europe behind them.
Plus you have two more £70m players to come off the bench. My God, it isn’t easy when you’ve spent a billion. You definitely need to go into the market again this window.

Don’t forget their back up keeper who I believe is still the most expensive goal keeper on the planet.

I'm starting a @gofundme if the regulars here would like to contribute?

In previous seasons it was clear City had a better team than Arsenal. The argument lies as to whether that still applies this season. No point debating that on a City forum of course but I think folk will agree there ain't much in it.
You have a better defence and we have a better attack. Usually the team that scores the most goals wins the most trophies. There are rare exceptions to that of course but I still believe Arsenal are too cautious in the biggest moments against the biggest teams. My gut feeling is that this City team is slowly growing into possibly the best team we have had. That's saying a lot but when Rodri comes back our spine will be Donnarumma, Diaz/Gvardiol, Rodri, and Haaland. The front five will be Semenyo, Doku, Cherki, Foden, and Haaland.

Id start a @gofundme to send you to arsenal-mania :D
BTW over my dead body would I visit that ADHD cesspit. I keep getting asked why I'm on a City forum and not on an Arsenal site. The answer is I love football 1st, Arsenal 2nd but also just visit Arsenal-mania and you'll see why it's not a place to stay for the sake of your sanity. Same applies to the Arsenal subreddits. Full of nutcases.

Most City fans on here are of an age where they've been fans when you've been shit, and been fans when you've been the best PL team there's ever been. Contrast that with Gooners who lived through Henry and the Invincibles, but then took that sense of entitlement into the modern era, and who are now scarred with PTSD from City pipping them to the title. Not a good place to dwell.

Rice < Rodri and we have learnt to play without him.
Arteta needs to learn how to rest players (and so does Pep!)

What concerns me from a Gunners perspective is goal difference. I look at Villa's and think they aren't realistically in a race as that narrow goal difference tells in the end as it indicates some fortunate narrow wins. The fact City has a +4 advantage on Arsenal when we've now pretty much all played the same teams is very telling IMHO. XG means fuck all if you scrape to a win because your £70m striker is shit and can't score yet City can defend badly but know there is a Viking Berserkr up front that is pretty much guaranteed a goal a game so even if you go 1-0 down or it's 0-0 with 10 to go, inevitably he will score.

We had similar with Henry back in the day. 'What's the score?' '1-1 and there's 10 mins left'. 'Has Henry scored yet?'. 'No'. 'Cool, we'll win 2-1'.

Not surprised, way over played.

The Arsenal fans I've met albeit not many have been generally ok, but I genuinely detest man ure and dipperpool fans. The most self entitled, arrogant set of cunts you could ever hope to meet. Most unpleasant and they're all stuck in a time warp

Gooners in general tend to dislike Dipper fans. There isn't the same modern rivalry with Rags as you'll have with them but old buggers like me remember being cheated out of at least 1 more title due to our players getting kicked to death with impunity by United and that red nosed **** of a manager terrifying refs into giving them extra time and dodgy decisions. So United can go fuck themselves in my book. They should have an asterix against a couple of their titles.

Out of interest what happened to Kovacic? He was no Rodri but was plenty capable. If Gonzalez hadn't stepped up you'd have been in big trouble IMHO.
