Arsenal Thread | 2025/26

Great result. And they were excellent second half.
But we‘ve been here before - the 5-1 win against us last season was dressed up as a ‚statement‘ win in the title race, but it didn‘t stop them falling away awfully.
A really good 3 points. But not sure it‘s any great marker of what‘s to come.
That 5-1 last season was at a time when we were going through our worst run for at least eight years, due to physical and mental fatigue.

That such a result should occur wasn’t really a surprise; I, at least, was half expecting it.

One thing i would say about City fans in general. is that we typically have match going fans on forums, makes a big difference, bit of perspective. Also we have a really aging fan base, i think us and Everton have the oldest av and longest running season ticket purchasers - loads of blues 50 years plus match goers - thats some commitment to the game. There are a good few at Arsenal too, but because your reach stretches outside match going distances a lot on social media and platforms are ermmm different! Not all angels from our side of course , but in the main its rational football thought first....well it is with my pals
City have more followers on social media than Arsenal +>30m only beaten by the rags in England

“Ref watch” is just an opinion of Dermot Ghallagher
Semenyo did a similar foul v Chelsea to concede a penalty and didn’t get booked
Don't forget Gallagher said that the penalty non decision on Foden at Newcastle wasn't a penalty until he was pulled up the week later about a similar penalty incident, which he said was a penalty, when he said he'd gone home and reflected then thought it was a penalty to City, the lying bastard.

Not just fatigue a shit ton of injuries and players having to play when not fit.

Each end of the calendar year Arteta says how wonderful the year has been..
But at the end of the football year the cabinet is always empty.

Because it is a carefully curated image. In real time it wasn't a foul.

Merino should have been sent off but so should Dias against Forest. Merino wasn't sent off, neither was Dias, these things tend to even out over a season.
But a few days ago you put up a curated image of Doku presumably fouling that Liverpool player and you were convinced it was a foul and a penalty to Liverpool, talk about fucking contradicting yourself.

jeeez that's pretty sad reflection of the modern game. I personally think if you come from say Exeter..you should support Exeter for example...that's the way the game in the UK will have a distinct advantage over the rest of Europe. (Germany aside maybe) I know we have incredible attendances down the pyramid but could be even better!

BTW I know full well there will be some folk going 'fuck off should Dias have been sent off' - ref watch already said he should have been red carded so I'm not arguing on it, just pointing out what referees are saying. Just as I am sure they will say Merino is a lucky boy. I'm not here to cause an argument on this other to say that we aren't the only lucky team in this regard and fans tend to remember stuff that goes against them and forget the stuff that goes in their favour!
If they say something on ref watch it doesn't mean it's true.
It just means one bent **** has agreed with another

Nah hes a big boy and experienced keeper, Martinez has got to be dealing with that. He let Villa down, arsenal were worrying before he gifted them that at a really bad time straight after half time
Agreed, don’t think Martinez was strong enough there. Merino was a clear as day second yellow though, if it was in Villas half then OK, you can see why the ref might have given him a chance but the player was breaking towards Arsenal’s goal.
