Arsenal v City (Community Shield) Post Match Thread

We need to sort out our corner takers because they are dreadfull every time straight to the keeper.
I was going to say ''big bloody deal; we've been gash at corners for years''. But then I remembered hearing somewhere that we were the highest goalscorers from corners in the PL last season. On any given day, yes; we can be dreadful, hitting the first man first man or, conversely, overcooking the thing and it bending out past the far post for a goal kick. But can't that be said for most sides? Name me a side with a reputation for being good at corners these day in the PL? Apparently, it's us!

That's the thing about flat corners. Most of them don't beat the first defender. But when they do they're very dangerous.

Its comparable to tennis. The best servers have the highest number of "lets". Because they're trying to just clear the net.

anyone see the blue on blue slagging off each other in 108 wasnt a nice scene offering each other outside for a scrap

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but here goes anyway.

Last time we played the Community Shield at Wembley, we lost and were taught a footballing lesson (™ shrek), we won the Premier League the following May.

Not to be overly precious, but I found it lacking class. We have to travel down the entire country for this friendly match while clubs with fans in London like Arsenal, Chelsea and United have the convenience of going around the corner. Today's match at Old Trafford and it would have been the reverse, full of City fans with empty seats in the Arsenal end.

Horrific drive down through a typhoon suitably matched by an equally horrific performance!

I had heard others on here previously mention the reason they wouldn't bother going (and there were plenty) was a combination of the manager not committing his best players and those who did play not giving a toss; well I bow my head bluemooners, how right you were!

And to make matters worse, in a day that saw freakish weather of biblical proportions, I have somehow arrived home with a sunburned head!

Roll on Sunday.

Yes, what was that all about? Was close to me but couldn't hear what was being said. Before that, the guy at the bottom was also having a right go at a different guy halfway up the section (I think after Giroud scored).

Good day in the pub, avoided the obvious and had £50 at 21/10 paying out £155.

It's all about Newcastle next week and not an FA fundraiser.
When i seen those line ups which were expected tbh i dont know how the hell we were short priced favs...

I would get overly worried about it. Next time we play in CS there will be thousands more empty seats...
