Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

I think if we can get three points here then we are really going to be sending out a message to the rest, half of our 4 difficult fixtures is gone and with wins if we can get a result. I don't see why we can't, Arsenal play good football but they are looking thin without their key midfielders. Not to mention that they have conceded a ridiculous amount of goals against the top four sides. We can definitely get a goal at least judging on our performance last night. We certainly look like we have shifted the Chelsea 1-0 home hangover, especially away from home.

I think a similar team to last night would be fantastic, Milner caused them a lot of problems last year and I think I'd go for Kolarov out wide instead of Clichy because apart from Sagna who isn't that quick, there is no real threat out wide from them without Walcott. They have a choice of Arteta, Chamberlaine, Flamini, Cazorla in midfield and I think we can easily match that with Nasri/Silva or Milner, depends how attacking Pellegrini wants to be but I'd rather play the same team as last night. Other than that, Giroud goes missing against the top teams and what other threat do they really pose?

Bully them off the pitch. This formation killed them for Chelsea. If we are feeling uber brave, switch Nasri in for Milner.

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

I think they look spent after a long season. The Champions league has been tough from the outset for them and they have had to cope with injuries to key players. Without Walcott they lack pace so I would play Kolorov as he can get forward and support attacks. Their defence looks like it is starting to crumble, the goalkeeper is making a lot of mistakes and without their regular two centre backs they seem a bit error prone. Based on Dzeko's form we cannot drop him for this one, and I think his movement is crucial. Mertesacker can handle big centre forwards generally, although Bony got the better of him last night. I would play the same side again, it isn't often I look at a game against Arsenal and feel we can just outplay them in the middle but I really think we can, they will still look to keep the ball and Navas' pace on the counter will be important. This is a game I might normally feel Garcia should bolster midfield in, but based on Arsenal's available options I think we can cope with just Fernandinho and an extra outlet in Navas. All about the battle with Flamini, Cazorla, Arteta or whoever plays in that role. Whilst they are technically good they will struggle to cope again with quick counter attacks and Yaya driving forward from midfield.

Another huge finals type of game. Same starting 11 against Rags.

Im tipping a 4 - 1 win.

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

BuZzin for this game now we are on fire at the moment. Play like we did tonight and can only see a city win. A city win = league is ours to lose

No. Koscielny, Walcott, Kallstrom missing too. Other good news includes Bendtner fit

silver-kalarov is a defensively weak combination and exposes us on the left. with sagna being attack minded player

Agreed mate we've got to be confident going into this. Loved it when the update came on tv last ngiht that they'd conceded an equaliser in the 90th minute, and with Koscielny now out their defensive partnership of mertesacker and him which has done so well is gone. Shame Aguero might only make the bnench but you've gotta fancy us especially now our defence is getting sorted.

2 nil City
