On Arsenal I think they'd be a lot happier facing Dzeko than someone with pace so I think it needs a Jovetic up front to unsettle them.
You can't not play Dzeko after last night's performance. He's shown time and time again that he's a confidence player, well his confidence has probably never been higher than right now.

Dzeko to start, and score, Aguero on the bench if needed, hopefully though we'll be 2-0 up with 20 to go and can send Negredo on to keep their centre backs on their toes.

Completely agree, Pellegrini shows a lot of faith in players and is all about keeping them motivated and confident - to drop Dzeko would be a poor decision - he is in form, confident and scoring and it doesn't matter whether Aguero is fit or not we should start Dzeko and if Kun or Negredo can come on late in the game then fine but we shouldn't risk Aguero from the start and should show faith in Edin - he is better away from home than Negredo as well.
Exactly.

Mancini dropped Dzeko after he scored four goals at White Hart Lane in 2011-12 and was on a strong scoring run. That did nothing for his confidence and he was never the same for the rest of the season.

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

totally agree with the Dzeko theory he was magnificent last night and he is a player that needs to be liked and trusted a total confidence player and I fully remember after him scoring four at WHL for some reason he was benched he wasn't the same for weeks after I also think Negredo is exactly the same and he needs to build up to the player he was some 8-10 weeks ago

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

I'd probably go with the same team as last night. Only change I'd consider would be Jovetic for Navas, purely because he offers more of a goal threat.

Win this, and what happens when we go to Liverpool becomes an irrelevance IMO

Disagree. If we lose at Anfield, we will be only 1pt clear of them, and the way they are scoring goals, they could top us on goal difference. That would leave us zero margin for error - and we would still have a trip to Goodison ahead of us.

Agreed, there's no arguing with the numbers; I just mean even if we lost there it would still be in our own hands - which means it wouldnt be 'fatal'.
I know we still have Neverton but I think most would agree Liverpool away is - by a long long way - our most difficult game left.

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

my point would be that I'd rather set the team up with the best chance of winning, and as proven against Arsenal this season it's pace and drive at the heart of their defence that works.

I also think we have to move to one out and out striker next season to accommodate Yaya and that means that we won't keep all 3 of Dzeko, Negredo and Aguero happy, seeing as Kun is our best player and Negredo has just been bought that leaves Dzeko on the chopping block. Thus I'd rather win the title than keep Dzeko happy, but hey, if Pelle makes Dzeko up front work on Saturday then great, I'm just stating my preference having watched plenty of Arsenal this season.

the next game is always the most difficult left.

@physioroom: #Wenger also confirmed #Koscielny will be out "for a while" with a calf problem #AFC

This confirms Koscielny is out for this game.

Re: City v Arsenal Pre Match Thread

Won't be an easy game, for some reason I am not confident for this one. Hopefully with Yaya, Silva and Edin maintaining their top form, we will snatch the 3 points.
