I've heard the same and a new Asda will be built on Ashton Old road at City's expense (£10m) City want the extra space for car parking.

I heard it was possibly gonna be on great ancoats st where argos was when they redevelop the place

Read many months ago of plans to redevelop the "Great Ancoats Retail Park" to include a supermarket and cinema

It needs doing. It's a shithole eyesore but I don't even think it's big enough just for a supermarket, not the scale of the current Asda anyway.

I do like to rub shoulders with the common man. It assists me in my quest to "keep it real" as much as I am able.

Got told by a femme manager in Asda.. last week, that managment level with long service have been asked-in with regard to re-settlement and plenty have been replaced by newer staff on much shorter contracts.
