Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

Re: Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

Fellaini should've gotten a yellow card in the 7th minute for the cynical kick on Silva. Instead, nothing given. Contrastingly, Kompany's first foul is a block off challenge on Welbeck and is subsequently yellow carded. Pretty much shows how the ref has called the game for the rest of the match.

The elbow yesterday was a joke. Slow motion and deliberate. Had it been the other way around, we know what the decision would have been
On the tv replay you can see theres 3 clearly separate parts to it.1. He turns his head and sees Zaba coming 2. He lifts his elbow to near shoulder height (shows intent, it's not a hand off) 3. He slams his elbow into zaba's face. That's a deliberate assault, pure and simple. You wouldn't get away with doing it in front of a police officer, fuck knows how you get away with doing it in front of a referee (replay also clearly shows oliver sees the entire incident)

I actually think there's not enough biff in the game, the game is soft as fuck. But we have had a few bad challenges go unpunished against us. There's a difference between more tough play and bad challenges.

I don't want protection. That's another example of the game being soft, calling for that. Our players don't need protecting. I just want the correct decisions to be made.
Bring back the Biff.

The FA need to look at Michael Oliver's performance last night. His poor game didn't influence the result - but it could have. Oliver's performances at Old Trafford are generally shocking (two with Fulham - one where he missed a stonewaller and a red card the other where he gave the softest penalty ever seen) - but he's not the only ref to have that problem. Mike Riley and Howard Webb both had / have that problem.

I said before the game he was weak as fuck. Should never have reffed a big game like that.

Sunderland, Newcastle, Hull and Man Untd (x2). We are getting no protection from Refs. This is not a Wenger moan about tough and physical sides. Put together all these incidents with no red card. We have been lucky not to have players with serious injuries. Teams seem to realise they have now got free licence to hack us down with impunity. Why are we not getting theses decisions?
City should take these to the FA and ask for an explanation. Fire a warning shot across their bows. At least it might make refs in our reaming games consider their options more closely.
Am I being paranoid? Do the rest of teams at the top suffer similar decisions?

completely agree; the likes of fergiscum would be all over this if it happened to them, although the reality is that it would never actually happen to them

It's been like this all season and yet our players are getting yellow cards every single time they breath near someone. It's an absolute joke but because Newcastle had that goal ruled out for offside then we deserve every bad decision we've had!
I think our decisions have evened out over this season got a couple of lucky decisions v Arsenal and Liverpool as well as Newcastle
I would be very much disagreeing with myself if one of these shit challenges had resulted in a serious injury though but teams like us have to put up with being kicked in the air and refs not giving same punishment as they would if it was a different team

Most of those were fifty fifty's or at least in games that the outcome wouldn't have been directly affected, ie Skrtel could have conceded 5 penalties in that game, Arsenal we scored 6 past. Only the Newcastle game was a real shocker imo but even that you can see why it was given.

However, some of the tackles and fouls on our players have been dreadful and gone unpunished. Scrap that, most have received yellow cards which means the ref saw them which means he has got them blatantly wrong. I think there have been a couple of times where we've conceded offside goals too, most notably Villa's winner.

I think we had a very little window where a couple of results went our way but over the season we have been murdered by ref's.

Re: Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

I can understand Michael Oliver only booking Wellbeck, however what I can't understand is why the hell he only booked Fellaini for a foreare straight into Zabby's jaw, and with him looking straight on when it happened. The FA should drag M. Oliver in and ask him to explain why he didn't sen Felllaini off with a straight red card.

It could have been a red. He was proper snidey the way he kicked out at Silva, a Rooney trick if ever there was one.

Also, for anyone who is re-watching the game can you tell me if after about ten minutes there is a penalty on David Silva? He was kind of clean through on goal and as he was about to strike the ball there was a tackle on him from behind. He seems to claim for a penalty but the commentators don't mention it and there was never a replay.

Re: Assault, leg breakers and elbows.

Just seen a re-run of Wellbecks tackle on SSN (not sure if Mike Wedderburn has posted on the 'in work' thread yet, but he seems to be having a good day). When you see it in slow-mo it looks a really bad challenge, Pablo obviously wasn't too happy with it either and generally players know when they've been done and when it's an accident.
Fellaini's a joke, how the hell can someone get away with just a yellow card for such a blatant elbow? Referees need to understand the consequences of their decisions, when you so obviously favour one side over the other, players are going to get frustrated and that leads to bad challenges and results in players being injured. I thought City's discipline last night was superb, absolutely refused to let the rags wind us up.
