Re: Harry due in court on Monday 23rd January 2012 (merged)
My age doesn't come in to it, Benoit seems like a professional footballer that I'd actually like outside of football, that's pretty rare so I'm glad to have him at the club!
Best left back in the league is a very difficult one. An extensive survey would essentially find every United fan saying Evra, every City fan saying Clichy, every Chelsea fan saying Cole, every Everton fan saying Baines etc etc
I'd be inclined to say Benny because imo he is much more important to our play, so much seems to go through him, but as he recently had a bit of a mare against you he will presumably be criminally under-rated by the majority of your fans, it won't stop me sleeping at night though. He's definitely got the record for most cryuff turns by a left back in the league that's for sure.
As for the challenge there's no debating it. I don't think it was malicious but he could have done some serious damage to Di Santo, luckily it seems he hasn't as no news has surfaced of his injury has it? The rule regarding refs seeing it/not seeing it is pretty ridiculous, there's not much debating that either. Benny should face action for commiting to a challenge that could have seriously injured another player, but within these easily manipulated rules he has escaped punishment. Hopefully he will consider himself lucky, for his sake and Di Santo's and refrain from making the same kind of lazy poke at the ball in the future.
I'm not sure about the agenda against both of us, when you look back every time we have lost points recently there's been a few contraversial/debatable decisions but I think it's just a poor standard of refereeing.

Being fair I do think 'B A E' is a good left back, but having watched him up close this season (and that's probably the reasoning behind my thoughts to be fair) I believe Clichy is the best left back in the league and I include Cashley in that.
As for the original point of the thread yes he should have been retrospectively banned, yes it helped his cause that dear old 'Arry didnt highlight it massively to all his media chums ala Balotelli's stamp and yes we got away with 1 when Lescott wasnt banned for elbowing.
Another thing I dont think ourselves or Spurs are established enough in the 'top four' tm to get decisions evened out over the course of a season YET but they will do soon enough when the FA realise none of us are going to go away and leave the others to fight out the top four places between themselves.
