Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

It most definitely most often tesults in finding a goal. I hate those 'football is not for you' throw away remarks, but if you have to even ask that, I wonder you have been watching. Not just under Pep, not just out team. Has always been the case, and aleays will be, long before Pep tried to be stubborn about it, long after you and I are gone.
I have watched plenty and I can’t answer the question. When teams are losing and they throw on attackers do they score more often than not, and more importantly go on to turn it around ? Or is it a higher percentage than when teams don’t make changes
Maybe you definitely think you can, maybe there are stats that say so there are for everything else. I can’t say one way or the other. Nothing wrong with not knowing.

Alvarez has to start. He has to be in the starting eleven. He gives us more than any of our other wide players he has to start next game
Absolutely. But sadly he won't start in Seville or v Spurs. South American Player of the year and if we are not careful, he might lose his edge thru lack of game time. I think Pep is being kind to trusted players who are out of form.

Of course they do. All the time.

Maybe there is a fair degree of sheer overlap, of the fact that teams make substitutions late on, and games are won late on. But that is what happens. It is that obvious thatbit doesn't need deep statistical analaysis, or quasi-philosophical devil's advocate fuckery.

So it’s just your perception, what I said. May be right might not.

This season, we'll see many games like yesterday's football wise, but the results will be generally better. Yesterday we were incredibly uncreative for our standards.

We'll want to control games and will take fewer risks going forward, which won't be pretty at times. The reason, apart from aiming at being solid in defence, is that by keeping the ball longer the players can stay fresh and avoid injuries. When the game is end to end like at Newcastle, it's great to watch but it's physically and mentally more taxing for the players. Given the freak nature of this season, the ability to control games will be very important to having more energy and consistency.

We'll be fine.

I think Haaland has masked a few deficiencies for us, we’re not quite as in control at the moment. I don’t think we’re fully up to speed, we still look like a side with very little preseason. We’ll get better as we play more.

I still think we’re a man short in midfield, we have Gundogan, KDB and Bernardo for 2 positions and they’re going to have to play a lot of football. Philips needs to get fit quickly, he would have given us some energy late second half yesterday.
Well said.

Oh yes well done, facetious reaponse of the weeks goes to a nothing exchange.

Incidentally. The team that made the change yesterday chased and got the winbibg goal. Just happened to have been unfairly ruled out. Just my perception. And the fact it actually happened.

Okay then if it’s so blindingly obvious, why do you think the best coach in world football has stated his reluctance to make many changes to a team chasing a goal?
They didn’t score a winner by the way because players stopped after the early all be it wrong whistle so he didn’t score.
