Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Think it's always hard for City when we come out of a season like we had last year, especially when there hasn't been much of a break. It's a completely new season with new challenges, new teams, and the run-in will be different. We need to keep pace with Arsenal, who are current front runners, but we've not played another top six team yet. There's lots of positive signs for us, a few things we need fix in training, but we are sitting second. A bit more old school of not getting too obsessed with the table until you've played 10 games would be helpful for us I reckon.
Always get the feeling Arsenal will self explode at some time or other. Sooner rather than later would be better.

A point from the game yesterday is not the end of the World, but I was disappointed with our overall performance. We had the game under control, particularly after we had scored, but then went on and threw 2 points away in a few moments of madness. As many others have already pointed out, we can not stop crosses getting into our box. A few players not really firing yesterday, Walker in particular and Foden. I thought that Pep might have put Alvarez on for the last 15 minutes after being so impressive against Forest. To me Mahrez looks a bit disinterested at the moment and his finishing has gone off the boil. On to Tuesday now. Hope we can get a good result and put the Villa game behind us.

It was very frustrating. I have no idea what Walker was doing early in the game trying to score from that angle, an utter tool. It was one of those games where after a few minutes you know it's going to be a struggle. Players off it, moving it too slowly and up against a massed defence. I'm amazed Pep didn't fetch Alvarez on, totally baffling. We needed his pace and energy it would have unsettled their defence and created space. After that it was small margins once we scored. Bad luck and some decent saves from their keeper. Their goal was annoying, very preventable, but that's true of almost every goal we concede. We are often the architects of our own downfall. Mahrez remains an enigma, he reminds me of Nasri a lot. World class with all the talent in the world but you always feel.he could do more.

Ffs is a terrible sub in the main , think he needs to start more

He was poor against Palace when he started. I think he plays better; n the champions League. He is useful if we need to keep possession but I never see him coming on and winning us a game.

Well well well we as fans have become united fans ,entitled wankers bluemoon has been going downhill steadily for a while, the amount of wums that are allowed to post, it's more quantity over quality,on bluemoon these days i suppose we were always going to attract the glory hunters and this place is full of them ,a draw away has every fucker calling every player shite and the usual wankers saying pep doesn't have a clue ,fucking shocking
Correct. I’d take a pre 2008 fan base any day over some of the clowns that post on here now. Criticism of players and Pep after any game we don’t win is embarrassing.

Was it about after 10 mins I was going mental shouting at Walker to square it to Haaland...downhill from there also I thought it was crying out for Alverez in that 2nd half....onwards to the spuds vis espana.

Here’s a tune for all you ‘believers’ ;-)

And PS, as a pre 2008 supporter, can you let me know how many points we have to drop before it becomes not embarrassing to make a critical comment or two? What would your trigger point be?

Personally I’m not sure there’s always a direct correlation between result and individual player performance anyway. Some players can have great games when we don’t win, and others subpar performances even though we’ve won.

After having time to reflect and hearing what souness said no problem didn't play well but could and should have won just hard to understand whoever plays wide don't seem to take their man on is a pep instruction bad day at the office but there will be more good ones but pep does take understanding about being vocal for five man subs but doesn't take advantage of it unless 3 or 4 nil up but who I am I to question pep
