Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

You can't say we won't win anything...Get KDB, Rodri, Stones all playing in a run of games, maybe add a nice piece in January and who would want to play us in the CL? I'm not saying we can't win the league, but you're saying we won't win anything based on what?
Based on my opinion, that's what imo means.

KDB, who's to say he'll come back fit and firing? Generally coming back from this type of injury also a "follow on" injury risk

Stones is consistently injured at the moment

I addressed the rodri issue by saying how can we be so reliant on one player.

I haven't said we can't win anything, I'm saying based on how we've played, the games we've lost, the change in the squad and the evidence thus far I don't think we will.

Again, I'm not winging or complaining, can't win all the time. It's just my assessment of where we're at.

Chelsea and RBL an elite team and spurs with half their side missing. Come on now fella. Your a glass half full man and I like that.
Guilty of being too positive, I'll admit that. But Pep and City tend to turn things around on time to fight for all the titles (and more often than not) win them. Like I said, I get the worries, and there are some slight conclusions that we can get, but I think we will be fine.

Former Manchester City defender Gael Clichy on Amazon Prime: "City played one of the worst games we've seen from them.
"When you see two centre-backs playing number six, you could see with the ball, in possession, there was no fluidity. Usually that's what we like to see from City. We did not see any of this tonight.
"Tonight they're lucky not to concede two, maybe three or four."
Its very hard to disagree ... if you have the balls to agree.

Was Walker the problem tonight, really?

Akanji, passes all over the place.
Bernardo, all over the place, literally, but not in a good way.
Foden, ineffective.
Stones, well off it early on.

3 subs that were terrible.

Overall a terrible team performance but he was no worse than anyone else.
Walker is at the root of the problem If Bayern still want him I’ll drive him He wasn’t in our best team last season and there are lots of reasons why I really done understand how the club worked so hard to keep him yet left it too the last moment with Gundo and pissed him off Played virtually every minute this season and has been responsible for goals conceded he’s no longer good enough

Here's Pep......

Manchester City
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to Match of the Day and in the post-match news conference, says: "Aston Villa played better. The first half we didn't move in possession and the second half was much, much better and we had chances, but we struggled to find the pass and movements in the right moments.
"After the deflection, we have scored four or five goals with deflections so it is what it is and we have to accept Aston Villa was better and go to Luton.
"Rodri is an important player of course but when he is not there we have to find a way to win without him. Six points [off the top] and we would prefer to be top of the league but we made three draws and lose today.
"In these years we have found a way to win games but we struggled a bit and we have to find a way. It is my job to find a solution. The dynamic changes by winning games. When a team is better you have to recognise it."

The latest and worst in a number of sub-par performances this season. I know we are missing some players but we just dont seem to be at it this season.
