Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The Monday night before the cup final started it.
The club allowed the players to get pissed, (until 4am) and that gave them permission to lose the final. It was now acceptable, who could better the treble and then 4 in a row ? The final was just the first 'it's ok to lose match

I know why it was done, it took huge mental strength to win 4 in a row but professional athletes should not have gone on the piss until after the final. . They switched off and have not got the mental strength to switch back on again as the more we lose the less painful and more acceptable it is.
A massive mistake by Pep and an insult to the City fans who travelled to Wembley and paid big money to support the team who were clearly not at the races.

I agree, and it is a fair point. But cold hard truth is that there aren't even 2-3 year periods where we see the results of our sales. Palmer were already finding his form in our shirt last season before we sold him. Perhaps not good enough in the long run but we could absolutely do with Delap on the bench this year when Alvarez were going. PSR is obviously a factor, but our decisions seems to be catching up to us quicker and quicker these days
Similar happened with Phil Foden when he was starting to get in the City side, He signed a new deal and he still wasn't getting in the side and everyone was scratching their heads (myself included) as in why he wasn't getting more game time. Personally I think Pep would have done the same with Cole Palmer.

My honest opinion too I think Pep and the Club didn't see a decline coming like that as quick as it has, It's a shock to the club and the fans, That's just my opinion. Don't get me wrong we have made some bad choices with incomings too in recent windows and haven't helped.

You've mentioned Delap, That's something the club could have done is keep Delap seen as he was on our books and we've big trouble finding another striker because the reality is a striker won't join just to play second fiddle to Haaland.

Football is a business, not a charity. You can't afford to stand still or you get left behind.

They're multi millionaire professional footballers. They're big enough and clever enough know when time is up.

Patience and understanding? Are they sick? Did you feel the same about Danny Mills? Michael Johnson? Paul Lake?

If players are done, they're done. There's no room for sentiment at elite level - If they're not good enough anymore, get rid and replace them.
Some supporters refuse to admit what they are seeing.

I get defending players when they have the odd off game.

But the whole world is saying the same about the state of us at the minute. I have the luxury of travelling all over the UK in my job and chat with fans from lots of different clubs. They have zero sentiment, towards City like a lot of our fans do. And they all basically say the same. There are a large chunk of our players that are finished, done, cooked etc....

I'd love to sit down with the fans that are saying we are unlucky and playing alright. And re watch the last 15 or so games (Forest aside) and show me any positives.

We are the worst in form side in Europe.

That isn't me chucking my toys out of the pram and being spoilt. It's a fact!!! The figures are all there in black and white.

While not much comfort, the timing of whatever is wrong at present has coincided with some relatively tough fixtures. A few easier matches, if won, could have alleviated the pressure.

On Pep, this. He picks the same shit week in, week out. The same shit that don’t look arsed. The same shit that dangle their foot into challenges. The same shit that are petty when they’re losing.

There’s youngsters who are eager to play. And they’d show a bit of determination in their play. A bit of fight. A bit of anything that’s not the usual shit that’s been served up for the past 2 months.

Emery was arrogant enough today to play two different tactics against him (Pep) and he had no answer for either. It’s embarrassing at this point and it’s numblingly shit to watch.

If I see somebody else say ‘it’s been worse than this’ then they need to look at the difference in the players. Jamie fucking Pollock isn’t Bernardo Silva. Samaras isn’t Haaland. The list goes on. The players we have should be doing better than what they are and it stems from one man - Pep.

He takes the plaudits - rightly - when things go right and he should be able to take responsibility when it’s going wrong. Highlighting injuries in press conferences? Do me a favour.

Whatever he’s been doing over the past 2 months hasn’t worked and he hasn’t changed it at all.

Same high line. Same players. Same tactics. Same blunt attack. Same tepid defence.

All while we have players at other teams - who were in our academy - showing exactly what we’re missing. Rogers with his energy and determination. Palmer with his bravery on the ball and guile. Both players Pep and Txiki were happy to let go so they could play their favourites.

Mahrez not replaced. Walker renewed. Gundo replacing himself.

Needs sorting and fucking quick.
As Einstein said
'The definition of madness is doing exactly the same thing and expecting a different outcome'....
