Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Over the holiday period I am going to go back and watch all these losses the last 2 months.

I want to take it all in. This will make me better appreciate how great the last 15 years have been.

No need to complain. There are players I don't like and think shouldn't be here but that's neither here nor there.

It's been a great run. I expect we'll take this year off. And then we can see what comes next.
Life is a roller coaster
Just gotta ride it.

While not much comfort, the timing of whatever is wrong at present has coincided with some relatively tough fixtures. A few easier matches, if won, could have alleviated the pressure.
Like the tough United that every team is beating or the tough Palace that are getting dicked 4.1 by Arsenal?

Football is a business, not a charity. You can't afford to stand still or you get left behind.

They're multi millionaire professional footballers. They're big enough and clever enough know when time is up.

Patience and understanding? Are they sick? Did you feel the same about Danny Mills? Michael Johnson? Paul Lake?

If players are done, they're done. There's no room for sentiment at elite level - If they're not good enough anymore, get rid and replace them.
It mean very little if the players don't want to join us for one reason or another to replace the aging starts. Rather than waste money on another Kalvin Phillips or a Wilfred Bony they decided to ride out this season with who we got along with Gundo's return and another promising player with Savio. What happened we got a freak injury with Bobb and then it went rapidly downhill after a good away win vs Chelsea.

Some supporters refuse to admit what they are seeing.

I get defending players when they have the odd off game.

But the whole world is saying the same about the state of us at the minute. I have the luxury of travelling all over the UK in my job and chat with fans from lots of different clubs. They have zero sentiment, towards City like a lot of our fans do. And they all basically say the same. There are a large chunk of our players that are finished, done, cooked etc....

I'd love to sit down with the fans that are saying we are unlucky and playing alright. And re watch the last 15 or so games (Forest aside) and show me any positives.

We are the worst in form side in Europe.

That isn't me chucking my toys out of the pram and being spoilt. It's a fact!!! The figures are all there in black and white.

15 games, 50 days, clearly a lot of injuries, very few easy games in that 15.

We are well off our best without doubt. We will get better. No one has ever achieved what we have.

Musicians release crap albums. Actors make bad films.

You may be right but some very expensive mistakes have been made in and out and we are being outplayed every week.So I think we are entitled to ask.
You are right we can ask the question but i think the problem is more the players than pep. What can he do ? Throw the kids in ? That’s how this run started.
The players gave let him down

Us happy clappers have had a hell of a run, let them have their day in the sun. I wonder if anyone wishes they'd enjoyed it more!

Play the kids! Change the system! Change the manager! Change the management! Change the owner! Christmas has come early.
A change of underwear is what some of the jcls need.
Ffs.

Absolute bollocks.

This club has achievements that other clubs in English Football could only ever dream of doing since Txiki has been at the club.

We've had a tough two or three months and his "legacy is being reduced on a weekly basis" hahahaha really? So I guess the same applies to Pep?

We could get relegated this season and he will still have an ever lasting legacy of success at this club.

Yes he's made a few wrongs moves in the transfer market in the last couple of windows, But we can certainly say he's got a lot more right than he has wrong in his time.

People need to stop going on like spoiled brats and take it on the chin that we aren't what we once were for many reasons, The levels we've been playing it isn't sustainable for such a long period of time, We've been lucky that the players have sustained the level that they have for so long.

Maybe you'll tell yourself that the players are also losing credibility in a weekly basis too...Grow a pair fella.
The club - and Khaldoon has confirmed it in his regular reviews - has taken great pride in having succession policies in place; a Plan B. 1 win in 12 is evidence of either a bad Plan B, or no "plan" at all.

It isn't "bollocks" to look at where we are now, and not where we've been. We were on our perch and we fell off it; we didn't even need to be pushed. We're dangling down towards mid-table. A good plan B prevents this - prevents you from sailing into a perfect storm - which is where we are currently.

"....We aren't what we once were for many reasons....." you say correctly. It's up to the powers that be at City to recognise what's in front of them; what's coming down the line. Our predicament is a culmination of events over the last 2-3 years while we were indeed flying high. They needed a better transition plan in place so that this perfect storm - which was always on the horizon - was avoided.

They needed a proper Plan B especially for the time when your luck finally runs out. Hopefully, a plan will kick in to place in January.

We don’t press anymore
We don’t tackle
We spend the game chasing shadows and lack any creativity
Other than that we’re doing well
Just hope we get to 40 points
