Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

An absolute shocker of a performance. The second half was easily the worst of this run.

Outplayed is one thing but outfought is just completely unnaceptable.

The tactics are complete madness too currently.

MOM - The fans for getting behind them when there was absolutely nothing to get excited about.

A shocker of a day this one.

I can’t see where the next win comes from to be honest we are that bad.
Made Morgan Rodger’s look like Zidane. Too easy to play against. And if we get relegated by ourselves then relegated again we should be back to the good old days.

Di Matteo didn't win Chelsea the champions league.
The players won it on their own.

If you don't like something or someone at the club you should still be professional and earn your wage.

Tevez was a bit of a **** towards the end but Mancini put him on the pitch and he was still an animal working his bollox off.

Play for your own pride if nothing else.
Yeah well once again they are not showing it, so maybe fucking drop them and play the kids ? what happened to the ruthless Pep that came to the Barcelona locker room as a completely unproven manager and told Ronaldinho, Deco and Eto'o to fuck off ? I just don't recognise him anymore.

Some of these players have been fantastic for us and helped us win multiple trophies but I do think that the following need replacing either because they are past their best or too injury prone nowadays.
Walker...Stones..Gundo...Bernie...KDB..
Possibly..Ake..
All very good players but injuries and or age have caught up with them.
We definitely need to refresh midfield and defence and start playing to Haalands strength.
1st half I think we werent too bad but not great either..2nd half we looked much worse even though we actually scored.
Hopefully the goal might give Phil a boost..

we were shite, inexcusable defending and slow and weak midfield

But I must have watched a different game as ville were not that good, despite the nonsense BT are spouting
That's the thing though mate.
All these defeats oppo teams haven't even really been trying, hardly broke a sweat to beat us.

That's what's even more worrying for me..

Disappointing, again. Injuries, age and lack of squad depth have led to a loss of form that is alarming. Let's hope we can turn it around.

But for all those on here wanting Pep gone (if they're not rags or dippers), I'd say be careful what you wish for.

I’d say this 80 percent on the players and 20 percent on pep

At the end of the day the players are on the pitch. I said this after the united game. I don’t mind losing, what I do mind is a lack of effort, heart and overall grit. Right now many of the older players look like they’ve given up. Pep can’t make them not play like shit. He could however just stick them to the bench and play some of the kids. But at the end of the day it’s on the players to show up
Absolutely. Mostly not injuries or tactics. Players are responsible for the way they play both individually and as a team. It is whether they choose to take that responsibility.

If Stones wasn't injured why did he come off? We should have been bringing Ake on for Lewis. Doku for Gundogan and moving Grealish to midfield to give us some legs there.

We looked like proper relegation fodder in that second half.

A few on here might want to think it’s still about injuries, but that’s an increasingly delusional view. The team has got major problems and the players aren’t playing for the manager.

I said last week that we needed a complete change and I haven’t seen anything today to challenge that view.

They played well in the second half I thought. I'd compliment how they played out of our press, but that would make out that I believe we pressed

Football is cyclic and teams come and go. Wenger was once golden bollox he in his time changed football and many teams changed too and eventually caught and surpassed Wenger. Wenger refused to change he would not compromise and eventually he became a dinosaur. That will be the fate of Guardiola, football especially the PL is not static, teams adopt tactics year in year out and sometimes from game to game. Simply buying new players to play the same style of tippy tappy shit I can’t see working, so he changes or he goes, doing the same thing is simply not acceptable
