Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Just when you thought Hincliffe could not get more annoying... he has been full anti-City today, (not that we have been good) but back to the days where the commentary has been as if we are an overseas team
I still respect him for the 5 finger salute after his rocket header but the guy is a fuckin bellend

I’m saying that what happens on the pitch isnt the full picture. They weren’t fit enough or they would’ve played.

Nobody talks about square pegs in round holes when Pep transforms players and positions with his magic wand yet when we lose the forum is awash with people making the most blindingly obvious points and insisting on a formulaic approach that won nobody nothing ever.
Fair comment but we have quite a few players not operating in favoured positions every game. Inverted wingers. Midfielders at fullback. AMs at DM. Too much

We're relying on the viking far too much, no one else looks even close to scoring.
The lack of urgency is frustrating, there was a minute left of overtime and we were fannying around with the ball.
We've gone from being champions of Europe to an average side fairly quickly.

I’m probably picking on Foden cause I expect so much from him. I think that chance right at the end just drove me over the edge.

That’s fair enough! I’m more calmer now when I watch us and assessing games, don’t thing we ready get to win the league we have to many young project type players who need to learn quickly plus Reiijnders has to get up to speed and where pep can get the best out of him..

I've not quite seen it in the past with him, but today... It wasn't just him, it was the commentator too. Both cheering the plucky underdogs of Villa on. Shitbags the pair of them.

Disappointing display today in all facets of the game.

For me the jury is still out on the players we have bought in the last two windows as it should be but we lack the quality and strength needed presently to be a serious threat for honors now with this squad unless we get massive improvement and consistency from a number of them and I am not sure they are capable of that.

You look for a spark and some signs that it will click but we lack the killer instinct and a number of sides now in the premiership only need to play to their strengths for long enough and we are in strife.

I see this as another season of transition where we see what we have that will form part of next build up to success.

Its clear we lack enough of the type of players required to boss teams in the premiership consistently and have to improve out transfer activity to get back to throttling teams and regaining the fear factor.

In terms of injuries we have had a better run that last season to date and while we went through a horror patch last season we are 7 points worse off than the same time last season.

We still have many issues. Full back. Possibly Centre back. Central Midfield and both wings. And Foden at 10 is still undecided.

Haaland doesn't score we dont. That has to change
Pretty much the whole team not just issues

Dog shit, we are are a lightweight team in a heavyweight league, most players these days are physical athletes we have a bunch of short arses in the middle of the park. Savinho should’ve fucked off to Spurs, unfortunately Bobb isn’t a starter for me, every time I see a City behind the scenes video everyone is shooting, yet we get on the pitch and think we must give it to Haaland, have some fucking self belief and twat the bastard. Apparently we have a new set piece coach, well that twat need sacking are corners are devoid of ideas.
Really pissed off at this performance, ye I know we’ve won so many in a row etc etc and I don’t mind losing but it’s the manner of it, far too many changes in the team and it shows. We ain’t winning the league this year and you know it’s there for the taking unfortunately the Tarquins will win it but I suppose it’s better than the dippers.

Keep the faith is an opinion just like an over reaction opinion.

The problems exist and it’s why we get beat. The facts back up the problems with the amount of defeats already this season.

Under par is another opinion.

Crap would be another one!

poor recruitment another…

On and on it goes. Only winning football matches will settle the debate.

Currently the team is mediocre with a few stand out top talents.
Mediocre? That’s a bit harsh mate.

We can’t win every single game. There are a small number of injuries to key players that affected today’s performance.

Pep is still learning about the players and squad. He’ll probably learn more from today’s performance.

If (and it’s a massive if) - Marmoush learns to stay onside we dig out a hard earned point and the majority would be content.

I’ll not be judging any new players this early in the season. Too many players before have improved after 6-18 months. Nico G being a good recent example.

We need to dust ourselves off and make sure we beat Bournemouth next week.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports on what he learnt from the game: "That we are a really good team who played a really good game. We started a really good game. In general we were much better in the second half but in the end we could not score.

"They link really well inside, they play four up front, they track you in high positions and after they link behind, they have the ability to keep that ball, it is not easy and when you cannot win those duels it's more difficult.

"In the first half the pressing wasn't good, in the second half it was better. We were not aggressive enough.

"It was a corner. A good corner and a goal. Listen, it doesn't matter. We can talk about this reaction. Listen, in 10 years already here I respect the referees too much. It was a corner and we should've defended that. You cannot complain about actions from five minutes before.

"We had the chances to score, we couldn't do it. We will improve.

"I am satisfied. We played really good in the Premier League mainly and we're getting better. We will learn from that. It's a long journey, we will try to be close at the end."

I asked a couple of times on the match thread… is he injured again? He trained on Friday, was on the bench v Villareal, so what’s the issue?
Christ knows, I assume just left out. Suppose all the fringe players get a chance on Weds to stake a claim.

We need him fit and back in the side asap, getting him and Khus in at the back should make us much stronger and allow Ait Nouri to bomb on up the left flank with Doku.
