Aston Villa (A) - Post-Match Thread

What a set of bitter, entitled fans Villa are, I used to respect their club not anymore after the Carabou cup final. The reception some of their fans gave to Grealish just reeks of small time mentality, pathetic.

They have previous for it with Gareth Barry, these players should shun winning trophies and playing in the champions league to stay at Villa park in a relegation scrap every year.

We didn’t boo Shaun Wright Phillips when he went to Chelsea, realised what a talent he was and we needed the money.

On another note I did find it funny the Villa supporters singing ‘your support is fucking shit’ when the home end was clearly nowhere near sold out. How much does Villa park hold these days? They keep saying they are a big club.
Truth be told it’s because we never thought we were one of the elite clubs and acted like entitled babies.
Same goes for Everton fans
For grealish to stay at villa would be an absolute travesty, he deserves to play in the champions league and for England
The year is 2021 and not 1982 city are a top team, unfortunately Forest, villa, Everton, arsenal and spurs are not
Oh and the ‘your not super anymore’ Chant is up there with the most pathetic on all levels

excellent first half, our football when in fast passing mode is mesmerising, Bernados goal outstanding, Raz best game for a long time, Ake very good (despite what some no nowts on here say, he's a top class centre back and unfortunate to be number 4 in our pecking order, better than Laporte at the moment)

Villa, best player Mike Dean, Watkins is also above decent and wouldn't mind him as a striker if we don't get one of the top targets, generally though a bunch of shithouses who fall over in a slight breeze

Villa fans in the office complaining about Dean ha.
According to them we were better 1st half but then Gerrard worked us out ,they battered us 2nd half & deserved to win
It’s a shame they got back to 2-1 as that prevented pep from bringing Palmer and mcatee on
I think if it stayed 2-0 he would have brought them on and we would have scored again
In the end I think he wanted to protect them and just get over the line
That result last night was big, it’s a tough place against a decent team with an up for it crowd and we had half the team missing

I was watching it on my phone, girlfriend had something on Tele and doesn't bother with football, I just said fucking hell what a goal that is when it went in, she didn't seem impressed

Sounds like you need a new gf mate! My missus watches her chat show shit or whatever they watch on her iPad while I watch the game. She does moan a little bit if I swear too vehemently when we concede though, to be fair!

Welcome to the harsh realities of life as an also ran. This happened to us first when Portsmouth took James, Distin and Cole from us, effectively the spine of our team at the time. Then we sold Barton to Newcastle and SWP to Chelsea. No team outside the elite can build a strong side anymore because as you rightly say as soon as they unearth a gem the top teams cherry pick them. Do I like it or think it's right? No I don't but it's been like this for at least twenty years or more. The foolish clubs voting for ffp to try and stop the elite getting stronger just shot themselves in the foot and condemned themselves to the wilderness forever. Idiotic.

As for Grealish you should be cheering him not booing him. The lad is Villa through and through. He not only stayed with you at least two years longer than he should, to get you back in the premier league and ensure you stayed there, he then signed a new contract with a ridiculously high release clause. He and Villa knew he would move on and he could have run down his contract like Millner did to us and fuck off for free. Instead he got you 100 million to rebuild your team. Time will tell if he was a big fish in a small pond but he contributed far more to Villa than I fear he ever will for us. Personally I'd take 80 million and Watkins from you and you could have him back in January.
It's always been like this, think Liverpool in the 70s, or Arsenal taking the Huddersfield players, way back when.
