Aston Villa (A) - Post-Match Thread

I have been watching him at City , tends to run with the ball on the left then stop , pass sideways or backwards. He is not playing with the confidence or freedom he had at Villa . Also he is not seeing as much of the ball. Seems to be making more front page headlines than back page . Early days but needs to be better to get into your team on a regular basis. UTV
because that is exactly what pep wants him to do for now and make space and time for cancelo to do his magic. once he learns the patterns of play, pep will give him more freedom and he will be better than he ever was at villa.

I just pop in at half time to see who's lacking any self respect.
It’s a shit show that I have no intention of ever getting involved in.
I see posts all the time bleating that they are only commenting on what’s happening in real time but that just makes them worse.
Dickweeds.

Because we lost composure and gave up a lot of control, unnecessarily. And stopped creating chances.
Yeah the other cunting team refusing to give up. Fucking hell, no Walker, Stones, Laporte, Gundogan, Foden, Grealish, Torres, De Bruyne that’s 8 top quality internationals and we just dominated a team with new manager bounce and two wins on the trot. We were fucking great

Just had a look on Villa Talk to see what Villa fans thought of the game

LOL... What a pathetic bunch of bitter, deluded, toxic, insecure weirdo's

Almost dipper like... the only difference being those scouse freaks have a modicum of current success... and a lot of recent (ok in the last 40 years) success to back up their bullishness. Most of Villas triumphs were witnessed by Queen Victoria and the one notable triumph they've had in the last half century was a one-off, never to be repeated victory that happened in a half empty stadium and which 75% of their odd fanbase sing about incessantly despite the fact they were still in their dads ballbags

I wasn’t keen on him coming on him coming on for several reasons but what a great way of looking at it. The Villa fan needs to mention it to Pep.
He also kept the ball and wasted time for us in the right area of the field.

Possibly the worst ‘officiating’ I have EVER seen.
He made the rules up as he went along.

We were awful 2nd half.
Agree. My mate refs at a high level in the amatuer game and Dean is one of the refs who goes round giving 'inspirational' talks to lower level refs. Answers on a postcard as to the advice he gives out. On a slightly different note - Taylor with his nineteen brothers who are all MU seasoncard holders, is actually the best ref in the Prem in my opinion.

SWP always got a good response from us as well. Don't blame Villa fans at all for being gutted he's gone, I felt the same when Shawny left us, but he gave you everything, could have left a lot sooner, and a vocal minority of your support seem desperate for him to fail.
He had a banner in the North Stand which quoted him saying My club , My City , My Home , some fans thought he would stay being club captain and coming through the academy etc but it turned out not to be the case. If I remember Raheem Sterling gets stick on returning to Anfield they should take it as a compliment if they were crap players no one would care.

That's how all our wingers are asked to play (see my earlier frustration at some of our own fans not understanding Sterling's instructions), and he's playing with less freedom because he's playing in the most successful system currently in world football which has quite a specific set of positional and tactical demands. He's settling in fine, and becoming a better player in the process. You worry about your players, I'll worry about ours.

Was fearful after the 1st half we would get a 4 or

As Villa fans are we supposed to be happy about losing our best players to city all the time ? ie Barry , Milner, Delph , Grealish ? How are we supposed to build a team to compete if this keeps happening? City didn’t need Grealish .It’s easy for city fans to applaud ex players as when you move players on you are bringing in world class players to replace. UTV
Not in the SWP days we didn't replace for better players but SWP was welcomed back by every fan not a boo anywhere CTID
