Bobb and Sav offering lots of defensiv work, nowadays.

Doku is still horrible helping at the back. His 1st half at Villareal been absolutely pathetic. No go at Villa Park.

Yeah I don't get it. It's a forum about a football team and a pre-match thread where the lineup has been announced. Why is anyone arsed by people voicing concerns about how we'll play, in the specific place to do it? Such weird behaviour

Pep likes him because when he plays him, we win games. We win those games because he does a job for the team positionally and knows where to be. There was a moment in the United game where he anticipated a huge hole in our defence, and if he hadn't we would have been going in at half-time 1-1.

Those are the things people don't notice but they are extremely important against a team like Villa, probably more important than whatever he does when he actually has the ball.

He was overplayed last season when we were struggling, and seemed to be identified as part of the "old and slow" group. When he's fit and rested, it's clear he can still put in a huge shift - covering more ground that any other player, and often by a significant amount.

I think people forget he's four years younger than Gundogan, three years younger than De Bruyne, and has always had an amazing engine and fitness record.

Written off far, far too early by some.

Doku helps much more in defence than Savinho. Doku's problem at Villarreal was losing balls instead of retaining possession.
 
Reijnders known for his goal scoring ability as DMA. This can’t end good . Kovacic will be on after 45
