But was it playable at the scheduled starting whistle? Perhaps the game could have kicked off at midnight. Postponements these days normally centre around Health and Safety issues rather than the pitch being unplayable. Considering the amount of attention and money spent on the playing surface one would only expect a match to be called off in exceptional circumstances.

I was merely pointing out that the pitch seems to have excellent drainage. Unplayable at 8:00, perfectly fine at 10:00.

Haven't had it but even much younger people than me who have have taken, in some cases, weeks to recover. I imagine that from their point of view they'd rather it had been called off.
