Can't say its a surprise that Garde's gone, but he was put in an impossible position, by the club not strengthening with anyone in January.

Surprised to see that David Bernstein has joined their board, he might be just what they need to first steady the ship, and then look at turning it around. I hope he's still a blue though, and that this is just a job for him.

Not sure what you mean by out of his depth. Villa are a poor team. No manager could do much with that squad.

He was either incredibly brave or monumentally stupid to have accepted the job in the first place. The team is hopelessly bereft of talent and pathetic and even the best manager in the world would have difficulty getting results with it.

He came across as a decent man and I hope he was well rewarded for his stint. He can't have slept for months.

When you are facing relegation you need a tried and trusted premier league manager used to the scrap that is the premier league every week,not someone who has never managed here before. It was doomed to failure from the off.

I don't think Villa's team is actually that bad, Garde was terrible there. One of the worst appointments in the Premier League for years.

No organisation in the defence whatsoever. Don't remember Richards and Lescott being bad defenders when we won the league. A poor manager who can't organise a team & defence makes good players look bad.

Villa maybe lack a striker, but no way should they be getting beaten every week.

Big Sam would have kept them up, Sunderland were worse than Villa at the start of the season. Villa thought they were too good for Allardyce - oops.
