Aston Villa Thread - 2021/22

Riskier than appointing OGS at the swamp ?
I meant it is a risk for Gerrard to take the Villa job, underperform and he can kiss goodbye to getting the LFC job.

How Utd thought it was a good idea to hire OGS after his Cardiff gig is one of the oddest things around, of course, if you prescribe to the rumours that he is a puppet being controlled by a whisky drinking old **** then it makes a little bit more sense.

ps I see what you mean now lol my latter part of the post covers what you allude to anyway :)

Going to a shit little club like villa is a risk, they were significant for about 3 years in the 80's, tinpot wankers now.
I'll give him 18 months before he walks.

Same here. I dont know how good he actually is though. He strikes me as old school management which is ok but I think SAF (For eg) wouldn't be able to compete with modern football nowadays .

this could be the signal that klopp is leaving liverpool after next season and steve G is getting a taste of the premier league to show he can do it at this level. why else would he go to villa ? its not for turning them into a top 4 team that's never going to happen

he's nailed on next liverpool manager and klopp will take the big job in germany or the the german international job

I was hoping OGS was lined up when Klopp goes.

No surprise he is leaving Rangers. The season before they won the league he was questioning the players commitment to him as a manager. First offer he gets and he is gone. He will enjoy the spotlight and bending over for the Scousers. Safe mid table club. No risk involved.

He’d be daft to go, stick it out at Rangers and win the pub league a few times then onto Liverpool to take them back into mediocrity. Fuckin it at Villa will mean no Liverpool job at the end
Clearly Villa is being used as a “bridge” to managing at the dippers.

Going from a 2 team league of Scottish lollipop ladies to the dippers would be way too much of a leap.

You can bet your life Slippy's first win will be against City, and the Norwegians will be celebrating more than the Villa fans.

My thoughts as well. Make a mess at Villa and he isn't getting the dipper job.
