Manchester City consider move for Davide Astori following Matija Nastasic injury

MANCHESTER CITY are pondering making a move for Cagliari defender Davide Astori.

Buying a defender has become a pressing concern with the Citizens needing cover for Matija Nastasic.

The 20-year-old injured his ankle during City's Asia Trophy final win over Sunderland and he is facing a race against time to be fit for the start for the start of the new Premier League season.

Astori was previously a target for Southampton and Manchester United, and now it seems Manuel Pellegrini has made him his top defensive target.

According to reports in Italy, the Citizens could make a move so they're not left short at the back.

Apparently Astori's agent has flown out to England and could soon hold talks with Cityb directors.

Astori has been at Cagliari since 2008.

I've just had a look at him on youtube, and he played in the recent Confederations Cup against Uruguay and scored with a Kolarov styled free kick. I don't know if it was meant to be a shot or a cross, but it was a decent enough goal just the same.
