Well when the boats sink and we see dozens of fatalities of all ages, it's the same people questioning why women and children undertake such a dangerous journey.

Here’s a more fitting scenario that actually works. Someone you know is having a heart attack and need a defibrillator, you manage to get to one. Do you just think “actually, this serves the exact purpose I needed one for, but I’m gonna keep going anyway” - You wouldn’t would you? If you only had a sole purpose.

So you see, it’s not JUST about seeking asylum.

By the way, do I blame them? No. I’d be trying to get here too, free healthcare, housing etc etc, I don’t blame anybody and it’s sad for anyone to have to make that journey for a better life. My own grandparents had to flee somewhere for a better life, so It’s close to home how people get affected.

But let’s not be naive and think the only motive is asylum, it’s not. Part of it is to exploit a system there to be exploited. People should just say it for what it is and stop being cowards, tip toeing around the truth.

In Barrow recently, some horrific pictures turned up on social media of a young woman (not girl) who had injuries that she alleged were caused by months of abuse at the hands of a grooming gang run out of a local Indian restaurant. She alleged she'd been trafficked, locked in rooms and raped repeatedly, brought up and down the country to have sex at parties of Asian men from the age of 12 or 13 onwards. The restaurant was naturally vandalized as a result. The police said that they had conducted an investigation the previous year and found no evidence of grooming gangs in Barrow. But after Rotherham and the like, obviously no-one believed that. I was taken in by the Justice for Eleanor campaigns on Facebook. I even posted about it on here at the time.

What was the first thing that the far right did? Bussed in Tommy Robinson and his lackeys to hold a protest. Before that, it was 1 or 2 vigilantes and then a couple of people protesting outside the newspaper for (rightly) reporting that the woman herself had been arrested for breaking bail (which she was on for making false rape claims against a number of men - all white except one, incidentally, but interestingly no backlash against any of those men). And of course the customary Facebook group, because people rightly take someone at their word when they post an image of the results of their abuse. When Robinson arrived, suddenly the protest was pretty sizeable. Are we looking at local people galvanized by a 'famous' person coming, or are we looking at people travelling from far and wide to protest something that very much isn't in their own community? Maggie Oliver, the whistleblower from GMP got involved in support of Williams. Patriotic Alternative started to get a foothold in the town (proper local, grassroots movement then?)

But now, months later, she was on trial for perverting the course of justice. Accused of lying about basically everything, and with the receipts to back it up (literally). The other women she accused the man of trafficking all stood up in court and denied it. The times she said she'd been trafficked to Ibiza for sex parties, the bloke could prove that he was in Amsterdam. They even had the receipt for the hammer she used to inflict the injuries on herself, which her and her family had tried to hide from the court, getting another charge of perverting justice as a result.

You could obviously look at this and say this is someone with severe mental health issues and the far right have taken advantage of the situation. And that's certainly true to some extent. But one action suggests that she was deliberately attempting to stir up racial hatred in the local. She took lewd messages that had been sent to her by men and then changed the names in her contacts so they would appear Asian when she shared them on social media. She created Snapchat accounts with Asian pictures (having said that, she's also done similar with a white man before too). Maybe even the far right themselves were taken in by her lies. But let's be honest, they're not a group of people who even wait to check when they hear about a 'foreigner' committing a crime. And that's kind of the point.

The problem is that people want to shoot people down for speaking some facts, they can’t handle opposing conversation because it holds some truth, so they throw out silly one liners like you did. The funny thing is that people think if you speak some harsh facts about these issues, that you’re some kind of bigot, and the reality is in my case it’s coming from a place of experience.

I have no issue with immigration and people coming from other countries, my grandparents did. My missus did. And if people wish to make the tough journey here for a better life, then good luck to them, but let’s not pretend it’s simply about arriving in a safer country, they can do that before getting here. In many cases It’s more than that. Anyone who thinks it isn’t needs to get real. And no it’s not exclusive to a lot of asylum seekers, there’s a lot of British people who want a free ride too. But from a common sense point of view, I don’t see how driving busses full of asylum seekers day after day into areas that already have problems is going to end well. The country and many areas are fucked as it is.

This country makes it very difficult for people who want to come here legally. you can apply legally, get a 2 year working visa if you’re lucky, work, pay your taxes and then get booted out after 2 years unless your employer can sponsor you, which most won’t because it’s costly, or get married. Otherwise it’s extremely difficult to extend your stay and keep your job….

Sorry but something is back to front with that system when people arriving illegally have a better opportunity to create a life than people applying legally and finding work.

As I recall it was you who first came on here accusing immigrants of following kids on the street. So projection is s bit of a daft claim to make.

Stop muddling up regular migrants and asylum seekers, that's your issue. Before we left the EU it was infinitely easier for migrants from those countries to come and live and work in the UK compared to asylum seekers.
