Atletico (A) - Post-Match Thread

Are Atletico today's equivalent of Leeds United in the 70's? Talented individuals but a bunch of dirty bastard's.
They're nowhere near as dirty as Don Revie's Leeds were. In fact there were plenty of English teams at that time who would make 2022 Atletico look like angels.

Let's face it,we weren't exactly choirboys at City at the time. Mike Summerbee, Francis Lee, Tony Coleman, Mike Doyle... Even Tony Book wasn't averse to using the 'dark arts' on occasion.

Let’s just imagine, for a second, we were 1 down with 2 minutes left and Suarez is fouled off the pitch. He then rolls over 4 times to get back on the pitch and Cancello tries to get him off and it all kicks off. I doubt we’d be criticising anyone other than Suarez.

NB: I’m not criticising Phil here but him, Fernandinho‘s ‘cruciate’ and Eddies ‘dislocated shoulder’ were all things that would be universally criticised if the Spaniards had been ‘practising the dark arts’. I, for one, am glad we finally get it and, if the referee isn’t going to take control, we are prepared to employ whatever we need to to get through. I’d rather be in the semi final following a game like yesterday than have played a beautiful game and got done 1-0, after trying some fancy flick or such like, then lost on penalties.
If Suarez was fouled off the pitch his teeth would have still been overlapping the pitch

They are effective at what they do.

The shit Ron Perlman is the anti pep with his style. Which is frustrating as when they attack they always look dangerous. Instead he's moulded his team into a Spanish St(j)oke City with the petulance of the rags under the piss can.

Doubt he was the only one. Would think it was pretty widespead last night. Doubt Zinchenko was saying please sir leave him alone when dragging him off Phil. Just that you have it in for Grealish and to be honest you did before he signed and now won't let it go.
He has done zero to change my mind , when he does i will

There dark arts and a bit of shithousery or whatever it’s called these days but Fernandinho never goes out to injure people or take it too far. That’s not hypocritical or blue tinted specs either. That last night was bordering on Sunday league antics.
And yeah we do play football the right way and we should be applauded for it and those no marks yesterday should get no praise from anyone in football.

To try and compare them to Wimbledon of years gone by as well is an insult to the dons. Yes those boys knew there limits and mixed it up by never resorted to 90 minutes of that bullshit. That foden didn’t get seriously injured is by pure luck rather than anything.
Wimbledon were fucking shocking, age must of dimmed your memory:) far worse than last night, I didn't actually think last night was that bad, some naughtiness but nothing too out of order
