Absolutely not the answer. A player who accumulates one yellow card in the quarters adding to 2 previous will not be banned from a semi final.

All yellow cards and those pending are removed after the quarters.

Red card rules still apply at any stage

That's incorrect mate.
Of course they would be suspended on yellows for the 1st semi final.

So in theory it indeed would be an answer, as they couldn't pick up their 3rd yellow in Madrid and can't be suspended for the 1st semi.
Won't happen though. Our lads want to play.
