Atletico Madrid

Much like last season, I expect to see a 2nd half of the season drop-off.

They are like has been said, very organised. They have tremendous work-rate. but they will tire.

Been following them for about 4 or 5 years, such a good team at the moment. Credit must go to Simeone, he has some great players but he organises them so well and has made some good signings (plus got the best out of the players he had).

Barca will win the league again but I think Atleti will push them and probably finish above Real Madrid. Their youngsters like Javi Manquillo, Saul Niguez and Oliver Torres look good too (especially Oliver).

Tonight was probably one of their worst performances of the season so far and they still won, that's the mentality that Simeone has instilled, he'll soon be getting offers from the biggest clubs in Europe you'd think. I hope he stays at Atleti for a long time though.

Also Filipe Luis is one of the best left backs in the world imo.

hey are short in numbers and I don't think their squad will hold the course of a long season, but very good first 11.

I would disagree with that, assuming everyone is fit they have a second string of:

________________Aranzubia

Manquillo___Gimenez___Alderweireld___Insua

___________Guilavogui______Tiago

__Raul Garcia____________________Rodriguez

____________Baptistao___Adrian

And that's not even featuring the little gem that is Oliver Torres.

Their squad is definitely big enough and good enough to cope with a couple of injuries and rotate successfully in my opinion.

Anyone been following them this year? Won every game in la liga and champs league so far. Simeone is a top manager, they are the most organised, hardworking, organised and well balanced team I've seen. They are short in numbers and I don't think their squad will hold the course of a long season, but very good first 11.
Seen a few games including the Super Cup where they were the better team over both legs, but lost on the away goals. They look fantastic this year and again are on the cusp of becoming a top club. It's a question of whether they can get players to believe in the project.
They've already convinced Diego Costa to turn down Liverpool who met his buy-out clause.

Admittedly it was Liverpool, another Champions League club might have been a bit more of a temptation.

Think of all the players they have had to sell the past 5 years or so. Wouldnt it have been better for the game, if tyey had the ability to keep their team together, with the exception of one lad from Argentina of course!!!!

Hey at least I hope they have made a tidy profit these past years!!!!

Its a match made in heaven if anything with Simeone and Atleti, he has played for them in two spells and won the double with them in the mid 90's, he will know the philosophy of the club and knows what it takes to win at the club.

If he can win the league this season, wow, he will become the most in demand manager around.

Said at the time he was a better bet than Falcao - ideal for the PL

-- Thu Oct 03, 2013 9:23 pm --

Correct - he gets the club and the fans completely - in his DNA and the players have bought into it LS&B

been watching Atletico for a few years now, its been a meteoric change since Simeone came in, clearly a very talented manager
