Atmosphere 2024/25

The United fans seemed to make all the noise from the TV coverage. I thought the home crowd seemed very nervous. Anfield can be a very quiet stadium despite the media myths.
It can indeed but I have to admit that it was loud as fuck when I was there the other week. Maybe Liverpool fans get up for games against us more than they do for games against United these days? ;) Or, more likely, it could just be a reflection of how each game panned out. Against us, they set off like a house on fire and took the lead, and never really looked in much danger of surrendering it, whereas against United they went behind and only led the game for 10 minutes out of 90. I'll also add that our away end was diluted by the tourists, etc, whereas United's seemed to have the usual lads in there. That said, United fans were shite at our gaff a few weeks back until they scored.

It is strange. Liverpool have more tourists than anyone but usually turn up for the big games( as we do). United away are usually good but you are right about their support at the Etihad. It has been pathetic in recent seasons.

That's the faustian pact we made

Yep you can have our club and do what you want with it. We can tolerate you turning the place into a soulless, woke generic sports stadium full of boring cunts and tourists as long as we're winning everything.

There's always a price to pay and now we're paying it
Absolute tripe!

The reason why we have a soulless stadium is also because long term city fans have got bored of winning, they take it for granted, there is apathy that is plain to see. The vast majority of the people sat there apparently disinterested are not tourists, or day trippers, they are people who have been season card holders for decades, l see them with my own eyes week in week out, both near where I sit and also where my family sits when I've swapped seats with them.

It's an easy deflective tactic for fans and fans groups like 1894 to blame the club, blame the prices, blame the tourists. Yes, most definitely those situations need looking at and I'm thankful for 1894 for trying to open dialogue. However, simply blaming the current woeful atmosphere on everything but long term apathetic fans is unfair and will not fully resolve the problem.

If you want to bury your head in the sand and think we have the 'best fans in the land and all the world', you do that, but I simply do not recognise that anymore. Sadly, we have collectively become the spoilt brat fanbase that we so often slated the rags for when they were top dogs.

The apathy started after the Aguero moment, was the pinnacle of football for so many and our passion has slowly fizzled away, except for away games and most Wembley trips. I remember playing Derby County when Johnson scored that goal, whole ground was singing and it was like that for a lot of games a really strong feel good factor around the club didn't matter who we played but we have just got use to it now and take it for granted.
