Atmosphere 2024/25

Doesn't help the atmosphere when over-zealous stewards are picking out Blues for supposed plane gestures when they are doing no such thing. Mate of mine SSL2 got pointed out & lifted at half-time and spent the night in Newton Heath nick. Club have banned him until they can review CCTV. Another lad in the next cell to him arrested for a similar "offence". Wonder if they arrested any giddy Rags for doing the exact same thing after their equaliser?

Doesn't help when they close HOME bars and deny access through the SS1 disco exit after the game. The Blue who was throwing haymakers at the stewards & dibble isn't gonna be seen anytime soon at the ground.

Doesn't help when you've got coppers in the home concourse that you know are just itching for it to kick off.

Doesn't help when your team capitulates like a wet fart and show the balls of a church mouse in a derby, but that's another story.

Up the fucking Blues.

Why was that exit closed ? The rag twats were being kept in so I couldn't see the need to close it off. I think that's the first time I've seen that.

Not sure where to put this but too many half and half scarves in our end. They should be banned and taken off people at the turnstiles
I’ve thought about this often - “BAN HALF AND HALF SCARVES” would make an excellent banner and probably would echo the thoughts of all proper blues

There were also 8ft temporary wooden grey hoardings outside the South stand erected in-between the South stand entrances and the away entrances.

It’s amazing how much planning and contingency goes into dealing with United fans coming to the Etihad. Whilst over at OT it’s a free fall all on the forecourt outside the away end.

SSL3 was class yesterday, best atmosphere this season. Although when they scored their second something happened in our end and the bloke behind fell into me and I then fell into the guy in front and smashed my nose on his head. Think I've probably broken it so cheers for that ! As if them scoring a late winner wasn't bad enough.

Bar the odd away following, away fans at the Etihad have been absolutely dreadful this season, so far.

United are normally pretty quiet at the Etihad compared to other away grounds they go to, but yesterday they were very quiet.
It’s been the same going back a number of years now with visiting fans.

Unless there’s a rowdy lot in the SSL3, the way they’re split actoss three levels in a thin strip makes them disjointed and depletes their atmosphere. If they are singing, it just sounds like a mish-mash of a few songs at once where SSL3 away fans will be singing one thing and SSL1 away fans singing something different. So there’s no mass voice from them (think of City when we go to Old Trafford, Palace or Leicester where we’re congregated together).

And in games like yesterday where our home section of SSL3 are making more noise than the away section of SSL3, away fans can’t make more noise than us.

I can’t remember the last set of away fans in the PL I was impressed with… maybe Forest in their first season back up in August 2022? Before them… Leeds were good when we hammered them 7-0 in 2021… before them, I can’t remember?

Since we’ve stopped allowing away fans in with drums in the CL, I don’t think there’s been a decent atmosphere from any of them. Feyenoord were probably the best there’s been since the instrument ban a few weeks ago. They reminded me of City away fans in the 90s.

Don't you know that according to some the better atmosphere we fans create improves the teams performance and makes us win more. Honestly.

Home advantage is real and statistically significant in football and one key part of that is the crowd and atmosphere.

Not sure if it’s how our away stand is over 3 tiers that has an impact or they are just all shite if that’s the case it definitely makes us love our away support even more as nobody comes close to us from what we’ve seen at our place

I can't believe you can get nicked for a plane gesture! Half the time they do it themselves and have their phone recording waiting for someone to do it back. At full time they were all over at the barrier with their phones out saying all sorts hoping for reactions to record. Proper grasses
Most of the time, it’s just arms outstretched giving it ‘come on then’ and they grass you up to a steward for doing a plane gesture.

Some wronguns still do the plane gesture, don’t get me wrong, but imagine grassing them up for it anyway!

As much as I hate giving Leeds credit, because they blow enough smoke up their own arse, but their away support in May 2023 when we beat them 2-1 was superb, I don't think there's been anyone better since.

Newcastle were good in the FA Cup last year, but obviously that's down to the extended allocation you get, they've been pretty poor in the league the last few seasons.

Wasn't yesterday.
How do you know? For all you know if we'd been away from home we would've performed even worse!

I don't really get this stance you have that atmosphere doesn't affect the game, because that goes against all the stats and everything players and former players have said.

Go online and have a look at our head to head results with Liverpool for both home and away games over the last decade. See if you notice any pattern?

It's one of the most evidentially proven concepts both in football academia and rough punditry.

I mean it's fairly common sense too. If you have 55,000 screaming your every touch then you will have more adrenaline and motivation than if it's completely quiet. Jock Stein used to make subs specifically to get the crowd up at times.

Aware of all this chief. The point is there's a few who are requesting us to get behind the team, which most of us do anyway, as if it's going to determine the result. If only it was that easy.
