Atmosphere 2024/25

The fans (1894 preferably) should go to the club with the names and supporter numbers of 3k fans who are committed to singing and making a better atmosphere. The club should then make an offer that’s too good to refuse on ticket price to get them to all sit together in a block near the front of NSL2.
Would love this to happen would 100% have an impact even if it was even half of them numbers but the club seem more arsed about the extra money they would get from hospitality in the section than doing anything that would improve the atmosphere

have some of the 1894 group/singers from the south stand lower, put them in the 3rd tier and test if that can generate more noise.

then if it works fantastic, if not im lost.

i presume the areas that were advertised as singing areas are now having fans who dont want to get involved in the singing? then the club need to do something.

there was times in the game where the songs seemed to get going but soon drifted away

I agree but whether it will happen is very debatable. I’m sure discussions around the top table are centred around revenue rather than atmosphere.
I think our atmosphere is affecting our revenue. I hope they realise that. We will attract more corporates with a better atmosphere. Imagine being on one of those coaches full of kids today, probably their first time. It was shit. Atmosphere gets people into the stadium. They can make their revenue once the change has been made.

I mentioned this earlier. Nothing spread. The singing areas were doing their own thing at the same time. The rest of the ground won’t join in when that happens.

That would require some long term thinking which is never taken into account as the people making the decisions don’t and never have mingled with us plebs in the stands.

Manchester City to them is employment and another notch on their LinkedIN CV.

We are slide 16 on their PowerPoint presentation to future employers on how they were part of a team that raised revenue by 7.8% in the fiscal quarter.

Probably worth emailing the top 6000 points holders with a deal. Even if only 1000 take them up on it, they could all stand together. It would be better than the fragmented mess we have at the moment.
It’d be like seniors day at the bingo, we need youth and energy

Email all fans under 25, give them first option.

Why are you all still talking in a hypothetical world.

The club aren’t arsed they don’t want an atmospheric end.

They also don’t want an intimidating ground they want to make it comfortable for corporate/ one off fans who might spend more.

Please stop wasting your time and energy on these threads making up hypothetical scenarios like give the club names make it half price.

The club are not interested.

Before the game even started you could tell how bad this one was going to be. It couldn’t have been worse really. Everything was wrong. The very occasional times when songs did get going there were 2 going at once so they didn’t spread. It felt disinterested, dispassionate, dissatisfied and the only times there was any emotion at all it was nervy.

Possibly the worst I’ve ever known at the Etihad, all things considered. I didn’t enjoy the game very much at all.
Doing a Joe Corrigan interview didn't help.

Love the guy, he was our keeper when I started going to matches but, a 5 minute segment just before the players came out wasn't a great idea.

Have him out for a wave and chat at HT, Danny & Nat managed to bore us all at the break, probably even worse than those shite quizzes about recycling bottles.

Unfortunately the atmosphere at big premier clubs will continue to get worse and worse. it's becoming a sport for the middle classes and football tourists. the club have tried their best to make sure the match day experience is as sanitised and cringeworthy as they can. I also wonder what the average age of the matchday fanbase is? in some parts of the ground there's barely any inner city Manchester youth or younger fans at all which is crazy. it might sound like I am being negative but I have accepted nothing will change.

Most younger fans seem to go in a group with older relatives, probably their tickets being subsidised or their seasoncard shared with siblings. Not many will want or be able to move. I just don’t see many large groups of youngsters at the game.

Plus we already have a singing section that seemingly had laryngitis yesterday - from where I sit anyway - so not sure if it would be any different.

Football is sanitised now, everywhere in the PL. You are watched for everything you do and say, if they could monitor your thoughts they would, and this is why people are more restrained. Again yesterday the only rush of energy from the crowd (aside from goal celebrations) came as a result of something City were doing on the pitch, I can’t remember exactly what it was but it was borne out of a bit of frustration in the second half that we weren’t shooting or kept passing it sideways/backwards.

Away fans like West Ham singing “is this a library” is getting boring now and a bit rich. London Stadium is like a morgue.

At least we sing “is this the Etihad” as we know our atmosphere is shite most weeks.

Was very quiet up in 314/315 yesterday.

This is why the away fans must be shifted and SSL3/2 be an exclusive City home end.

Two ends are better than one !!

“Erling….”
“Haaland.”

“Erling…”

“Erling……
“Haaland.”

The stadium announcer chap is by no means the biggest problem when it comes to atmosphere (or lack thereof) but fuck me, I wish he wouldn’t do the triple Haaland thing after a goal.

Like everything at the Etihad it is aimed at 7-year-olds, such as the fast version of Blue Moon and the whole ‘match day experience’ cheese fest.

I know many hate it, but we really need to be abit more organised like the ultra groups. Not to the level of drums etc but songs, Its seemingly working for many clubs who have this

I didn’t think it was too bad in 115 yesterday but apparently KDB also wasn’t too happy with the atmosphere after WHU scored. Perhaps everybody wanted to get home at that point and warm up or everyone became nervous when Walker came on [emoji6]

The rest of the ground also won't join in with complex chants they don't know. Blue Moon is quite short, as are best team in the land and all the world, champions again, were not really here, stand up for the champions, and a couple of others. However the longer chants about the best defence in Europe, follow you everywhere and that Stone Roses thing never seem to spread round the ground. These may be cleverly composed and work at away grounds as it's easier to learn the words, but they just don't spread at home.
At West Ham it's come on you irons or one verse of I'm forever blowing bubbles, at Spurs it's come on you Spurs, that slowed down when the Spurs go marching in or the simple Yid army, and it's the same for other clubs.
Keep it simple. But not nursery rhymes; we leave those to the rags.
As for the extended stand: Why are we building a large second tier if it's not to be the atmosphere end, a bit like that single tier stand at Spurs? It would make more sense to mirror the south stand if it's just to get a few thousand extra seats.

Just let us do our HAALAND HAALAND HAALAND bit.

I have no idea what the atmosphere was like yesterday as I wasn't at the match or see it on tv.
I feel we beat ourselves up to much over the atmosphere we are no worse or better than any other pl club.

The pl have got what they want as have the club.

Pl want a good product with no bad publicity, no coach welcomes like the dippers. Whilst that was out of order it certainly increased the volume of hatred towards the dippers. Now I'm not saying football should have coach welcomes like that.

The clubs want to sell tickets at the highest prices forcing out real fans. I know a few fans of London clubs who have been season ticket holders for decades. They don't go anymore because they can't afford the prices.

Clubs will say ticket prices will be high due to ffp regs !

Unless all clubs want the real fans than apart from the odd game per season most games will be like a library.

Personally do I want to attend a game without any atmosphere ? No. I don't want to give up my weekend for that, 70plus quid, than I can't get tickets for the big games with possibly an atmosphere.

I was thinking of coming up for the Salford match but thought, sod it I can't be bothered doing the 600 mile round trip when the club doesn't want me for pl games.

Edit...plus the players are flocked with to many games, means real fans are expected to pay more to attend more games. The tourist are now taking up that slack and clubs realise that tourist are happy to pay big money. It will go pop at some point

Good.
You're a grown man so can ignore small irrelevant micro-annoyances. 7 year olds that like that type of stuff will remember it long last when you do
You’ve really got it in for me, haven’t you? Haha. Each to their own.

Have a good day, Blue.
