(Atmosphere) don't let them never say we don't have any

Didn't feel flat to me, it felt tense. So not much singing in the second half but not silent either, the weird kind of low hum you get from 50k nervous people who know that one bad moment and pretty much the game would have been up. It probably doesn't come across on TV, especially when the cunts at BT turn all their mics down, but for me it certainly wasn't the same as a flat atmosphere, something like West Brom at home the other week. The best example of this for me was when we beat the scum 1-0 in the title run in. Enormous match but not much singing during the 90 minutes. Was the atmosphere flat? Was it fuck, just everyone was shitting their pants.

Good summary as to how it felt from where I was.

Wasn't expecting to hear Viva Espana from the Madrid fans though.

Maybe we should start singing "knees up mother brown" next time (or even knees up kev de Bruyne?).

No we don't.

Our atmosphere reflects the game, their's is monotone and is just in the background. Dortmund's has absolutely no reference to what's happening on the pitch.

Last night whenever we had a good spell the crowd urged the team on and you could feel the excitement at corners and counter attacks. Who gives a fuck if there's a few tense/quiet periods, when the crowd comes alive again it makes it more special.

What do you think pushes players on more: the same chants over and over again in the background or a crowd chanting "come on City!!" Following a good spell?

Organised chanting with drums or a twat with a microphone shouldn't be happening at City, or England for that matter.

We could still have a drum and not do it like dortmund. At away games people frequently bang on the back metal walls and that's always good for getting a beat going and then keeping it going, it can still be relevant to the game ie 'here's to you Vincent kompany' after he's done a great tackle, or even better a tune to get behind them and push them on before they do something great.

I thought the atmosphere, considering it was a semi final of the champions league against real Madrid, was poor. The singing sections looked/sounded good, but when such a majority of the stadium only joins in for the odd cheer and it generally silent it is poor in my eyes.

am not for all this band and drums stuff at the grounds but in todays world in England you have to be so PC the banter has gone. your told to seat down don't drink don't smoke don't swear don't bring that in FOG horns. whistles. rattle. so to bring in the Atmosphere is very hard. BUT in Europe they get away with everything even smoke bombs fog horns the lot its just in England we get battered by Uefa and are to soft. so if your not a united fan who use every single nursery rhymes in the book to sing about glory glory utd and pump it over the PA for a hour before kick off the Atmosphere can get a bit lost

we need more new song writers at Manchester city the modern man and somebody who can keep them clean but funny maybe we need a new city song book and give the players a great lift the Kompany song to Simon & Garfunkel Mrs. Robinson is the way forward so come on modern man city fans start writing and bring it to the games

Is there a Klitschko thread anywhere, think it's quite funny and potentially clever donning the city shirt today!!

The brilliant thing about last night was that most people were in their seats 10-15 minutes before KO and making a noise while waving the flags. It was an exceptional experience to be part of that, even for a CL-hating cynic like me.
That was it mate, everyone was there early and the place was bouncing before kick off, if it could be like that every game and we stop playing that shite loud music or adverts on the screen it would be exceptional

Well done for posting this. I was part of the "T" so couldn't see how it looked. Spent my whole journey home swearing at TalkShite as they were wittering on about how quiet it was. They were either lying bastards or BT turned the volume down. ES L3 is normally quiet but you could tell straight away how much louder it was.

Had to watch it on Spanish TV (thankfully much better than BT Sport!) and it sounded loud

Based on my visits I would say our atmosphere is better than the Allianz Arena, The Nou Camp, and the Bernabeu but not as good as Aris Salonika, Dortmund or Poznan. The reality is that lots of the Twitter fanboys and people like Goldstein and Cundy don't attend matches so they haven't got a clue. They are just plastics and fakes. There was no atmosphere at Maine Road for most of the 80s (with a few exceptional matches). One of the quietest matches this year was the Derby at the swamp

Even the Yanks are starting to get a Atmosphere at games, just came across this, fast forward 10 minutes !

Look I'm not saying we should get rid of our chants! If we did bring a drum and microphone, it would lift our players throughout the game and intimidate our opponents! This would be good! That's why german fans and other Eastern European teams fans r better than English fans because there is more passion! One of the reasons atl. Madrid played well the other night because all their fans were sing all game and showing passion, English fans in general don't do that!

Yes we could chant.....
Kill the fucking drummer
Kill the fucking drummer

Or

Who's the wanker
Who's the wanker
Who's the wanker with the mike
Or we could just show more passion and get behind the team for most of the game instead of sitting there silently and chant every so often! I'm not going to lie to myself r atmosphere is awful compared to other teams in Europe! When we were playing against madrid me and my mates kept on trying to get the crowd singing but none of them would, they showed no passion what so ever!

german fans showing more passion ? the most boring monotone fans I've seen. they show barely any emotion all game. the difference is english fans react to whats going on. id rather have that anyway

I didn't get why one Bayern Munich fan pays money to go to a champions league game at the Etihad, then spends the entire game facing the other way with a mega phone cheer leading the crowd.

It's amusing the synchronised jumping up and down and chanting but after an hour it's a tad iratating. We create a lot more rawkus noise when we want to at the Etihad and we actually watch the game.

The display was the best thing of the night imo. Atmosphere was great for the first ten minutes and then it was poor, it's down to the match and team performance .. Didnt give us much to shout about .. first shot on target on the 92nd minute

Talksport and all the medias love having a go at our atmosphere and generally talk-shite but we got to be realistic, it wasn't a good atmosphere for a large part of the match. I was in 115 last night and there were only 50 people singing constantly ...

It was good up in the gods
