Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Not read the thread but seeing fucking that fucking idiot with a loud hailer in South Level 3 last night..I had to double take I really did.

Just fuck off. Idont care who it is or what you are trying to do but what a load of bollocks that was
Have you any alternatives to get the mass silent arms crossed brigade singing?

As many have eluded to already but making an incessant noise for 90 mins just becomes background noise can’t lift the team when required
I used to live on Manchester Road at Thornley Park incessant noise of traffic went unnoticed for 15 years only realised this when we moved to leafy Cheshire lol

A good old Come on City Come on City is far better than that Nuremberg Rally we saw last night
Problem is we aren't even getting the "come on city's" any more , the Etihad is literally silent 90% of the time

I’ve always thought that the large number of fans who leave the first half early and come back to the second half late is a culture within our support that has hungover and sustained from when we were shit. Where each match isn’t really that important unless it’s the Derby or a game near the end of the season where we need a win to stay up. The game was often bobbins so it didn’t matter if they missed 10mins either side of HT, the half time beers were more important.

When we played Liverpool in the 2016 EFL Cup final, loads of our fans missed Fernandinho putting us 1-0 up on 49mins and a few around me who came back a few minutes later didn't know we’d scored and only realised when they randomly looked at the scoreboard on about 55mins.
You watch the Scouse cunts on Sunday, I always notice that they’re all back in their seats and singing for the start of the second half. One year they caught us cold and Mane scored in the first minute of the second half, with loads of our fans not seeing it.

Also, I always think that leaving early en mass at the end of the game like we do is what a support does when it’s disgusted with the team’s performance and they’re showing their disdain for the team. Another culture within our support where I bet half those who leave early just do it out of habit.

After the two late goals against Burnley, I reckoned up how many goals those who leave on 80minutes every week have missed since the takeover in 2008… add that to the two we’ve scored after 80mins since, and they’ve missed a staggering 348 City goals!
April 2013 the derby at the swamp. Me and a mate accepted a halftime "energy tablet" off one of our lot. Ballooned about for 45 minutes. Took the long walk down Chester Road back to Alty, both of us convinced we'd drawn 1-1, good point at their place. We were 3 pints deep at The Station before we realised we'd beaten the cunts 2-1 and we got to celebrate it all again. Happy days.

For me Wolves is the worst away end. Not that deep, spread across so that different pockets start songs but it's disjointed. I really don't think the south stand level 1 is that different. I'm not comparing it to Wolves directly, SS1 is much better, but if I was designing where to put singers there's no way I do it like we do and then compound it to split the other singers to the kippax corner and upstairs.

When everyone kicks in with the same song it's great, but it's not so often we manage that level of coordination unfortunately. Just my opinion.

You’ve got too much time on your hands pal ;-)

The south stand is even worse than Wolves because the roof is higher, it doesn’t have a concrete overhang, the away fans aren’t right in the middle of it, a corporate area behind it and it doesn’t have to be given up for big cup games.

The season ticket holders didn’t sign up for the sanitised tourist event that European home games have become. It’s not a question of can’t be arsed, it’s just not very interesting. My first season ticket was 1974 and tbh I’d rather watch us play Birmingham than Bayern Munich because I have history with them. European aways are fun but after Istanbul my hatred of UEFA hit such levels I’m loath to subsidise their shit competition. Yes I know the players love it, the owners crave it but it does nothing for me. Don’t mistake disdain for apathy.
You are joking aren't you? I understand horses for courses (and might even sympathise if we were having to watch Shakhter for season after season. But this is absolutely top class football at a level we could only dream of 20 years ago - and we have more than held our own over the years.
Just look at our 4 home games this season - all of them interesting for different reasons against 4 top class teams. Leverkeusen were the talk of Europe a year ago, Galatassary have a wealth ov talent including 3 of our very best ex players and I found the Dortmnnc game a really good one yesterday.
As for hating EUFA this is the football world we live in- you m8ghf as well nog watch a PL game again because they are a bunch of shits who hate us.

Call it boring, robotic, orchestrated, emotionless, etc, you get the idea.

But the difference between the Dortmund fans and City fans sat and stood in silence either side of the Dortmund fans couldn’t be more stark and obvious.(no drum during this chant)

Wouldn’t it be great if SSL1 and blocks 111, 110, and 109 chanted to each other across the away fans?

Hopefully that will happen between NSL2 and SSL1 in the future?

The laser show.

Sections of the video showing City fans and Dortmund fans (close up) chanting.

GMP officers backing off in the Dortmund end when the Dortmund Ultras move towards them looking for a confrontation.

Here's a good image of the posh seats in SSL2 on a big European night...

This is exactly why the 600 GA+ seats at the front of NSL2 will completely undermine the idea of an atmospheric home end.

Can you imagine the displays/tifos....

There is no police force in Europe that would ever back away from City fans in similar circumstances. We'd be baton whipped, grabbed and frogmarched out of there pronto.

GMP very quick to wade in and lift Blues against the dippers last season.

All down to personal preference and opinion I guess. We did used to play Shaktar every season and that was boring as fuck, but tolerable because we had to win the thing. Now we play Real Madrid every season and that’s…..so exciting I doubt we’ll sell our allocation. UEFA have basically destroyed domestic football in every European league except the prem, as their prize money means the same team (occasionally 2) wins their domestic league.
I am no lover of the premier league hierarchy but compared to the shit UEFA impose they’re much the lesser of 2 evils.
No right or wrong but the make up of the crowd at most of our UCL home games would suggest I’m not the only one thinks this way

But they could go and do that in a park somewhere, they don’t need a football match (which they don’t watch). It’s a noise not an atmosphere.

For some reason some posters on here can’t see it. GA+ is apparently exactly the same as elsewhere and the atmosphere is just as good.

I can see it every game from where I’m sat. It’s ss2 that stops the atmosphere spreading from either ss1 or ss3. It’s often half empty for about ten minutes after half time as well.

Why on earth is this being putting at the front of what’s supposed to be a home end

“Displays” aren’t atmosphere. Noise is atmosphere.

That section is Legends Lounge, full blown hospitality rather than GA+ which is normally padded seat free pint and programme (Like Joes) and a laminate floor of course.

You get a three course Buffet in Legends, and as the traffic was bad, and COOP had some bands on, they were still probably tucking into nosebag and talking to the likes of Wayne Clarke and Carl Shutt.

If the vocal fans moved into the 6000 seats behind the (tiny) semi-corporate two rows it would work perfectly. The sound would tumble down the stand and into the bowl. The whole GA+ thing is a bit of a red herring in my opinion. It’s not ideal but should not be a showstopper.

If anyone doubts the importance of the north stand being an atmosphere area they weren’t paying attention last night.

At Napoli they have a curva at both ends . Not sure if they were responding to each other but it's pretty surround sound all match .

This is the post/thread where this is referenced: Post in thread '1894 Singing Section vs Borussia Dortmund' https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/...ion-vs-borussia-dortmund.369811/post-18736731

I'm in the cup scheme and usually sit in 315. I had no idea this was to be a planned singing section. For the Dortmund game I actually ended up relocating to get a ticket with someone else and sit next to them, so didn't see any goings-on in 315 myself.
Yeah, I've seen it mate. Absolutely no excuse for that behaviour. I see wearethesouthstand responded to your post later in this thread
