Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Do you think if they were a tenner each we'd fill the ground tonight? And that's a credible ask for a champions league game?
Yes it is.

The club should be doing everything in their power to try and re-engage the fanbase.

What plan do they have to fill an extra 8,000 seats? They need to get the core fanbase back in the ground, and the only way to do this is a campaign of cheap ticket prices.

I feel like I’m not in the same stadium as some of you sometimes. There’s literally not a single away fan that I’ve seen or heard in my stand. Not one. The noise from City fans is significantly better than most premier league games.
Fuck loads of the cunts near me in 119, it kicks off literally every game. Really bad at the victims match.

I know at least 5 people who sit around me who had tickets, didn't sell them and didn't go. They would be counted as sold tickets, but empty seats. Im sure there would have been plenty others who did similar.
I’m not saying there weren’t any no shows - just that the figure of 35,000 is bollocks as thousands more than that were sold. A bit like that Leipzig crowd of “38,000” a few seasons back when anyone who was there reckoned it was more like 44k-45k.

Strangely given all the comments here, the atmosphere seemed pretty decent on TV and the ground looked very full at the bottom tiers, not nearly as empty as it might sound reading this.
East stand top tier was noticeably empty as was SS3. Couldn't see CB3 from where i was but i imagine that it was the same

Exactly this.

The stupid ticket pricing combined with this new stand are just a massive act of hubris from city.

They need to sort the ticketing out because it’ll all go to shit if they don’t.

Block011 was superb tonight better than any home game this season except Liverpool and United. Deffo a change of demographic this season . Give me empty seats vs better atmosphere any day of the week.
Heard 010/011 loads of times tonight from behind the goal in 015 - a great effort from Kippax Corner. Think it also shows that the Galatasaray fans weren’t on it all the time if we could hear your block loud and clear. Was a good atmosphere tonight - about as good as we could realistically expect with a loud away following to contend with. It was similar against Napoli too.

In 315 there were plenty of objects and the odd firework/banger being chucked over from the away fans in the 2nd half.

There was a young lad near us who was really shaken after a loud banger landed right near his feet. Other kids nearby noticeably shaken from similar flying objects.

Stewards and police doing next to nothing, clearly not fancying the aggro.

I can't take a drink into the stadium with the bottle top still attached, yet away fans can bring drums, flares and fireworks without question.

There's a big difference between not wanting them and being priced out of having them.

I think it goes deeper than that to be honest. First group game (Inter I think) after the treble season was more expensive than the Madrid semi final game. How can that be right?

Especially on top of how we were treated in Istanbul and the complete silence from the club about it. Plus with the change of format there's now more group games which brings additional cost.

£52.50 it cost for me & the lad to go tonight. Whilst it's not *that* expensive by today's standards, when we played Sevilla in the last group game of the treble season it cost me £27 for the pair of us.

People have had enough. Then when you spend 90 minutes surrounded by Gala fans, it's getting harder to find the motivation to go

Personally i think it's too late for that. They have treated the fans with contempt for so long they've lost them. Sure they'll always support the team, that never leaves you, but it will be on streams and the tv from now on. Maybe the odd live game here and there. After thirty five years in the wilderness most long suffering fans have seen us win everything, after thinking they'd die without ever seeing us win another trophy. They kept the club alive when our recent success was as unlikely as a lottery win. Then when success came they were brushed aside and/or priced out for the newly acquired glory hunters. For many now its thanks for the memories.

We've been arguably the most successful team in europe of the past decade, and there's 2 million people right on our doorstep! It's never too late to start rebuilding a core fanbase.

If the club started a cheap tickets initiative, with a promise of cheap tickets for every game, then I guarantee you that within a year we'd be selling out every game.

We should be looking at the Bradford City for inspiration, as when they started charging only a fiver for all tickets they started selling out every game, and the whole morale around the fanbase improved greatly.

They chucked a flare (and shitloads of other things) right between my lads eyes in the third tier of the south stand the fucking scruffy cunts.

Just got out of the medical room under the stand now where they’ve glued his head, hopefully it sticks tonight or it’s an A&E job in the morning
Rats mate hope your lad is OK

You see championship clubs charging more than what you could tonight to watch us I think people just make excuses because they couldn’t be arsed
Agreed. Some have got complacent with success although all the other issues are relevant. Tonight was a security thing etc but they need to turn up against Newcastle.
