We've been arguably the most successful team in europe of the past decade, and there's 2 million people right on our doorstep! It's never too late to start rebuilding a core fanbase.

If the club started a cheap tickets initiative, with a promise of cheap tickets for every game, then I guarantee you that within a year we'd be selling out every game.

We should be looking at the Bradford City for inspiration, as when they started charging only a fiver for all tickets they started selling out every game, and the whole morale around the fanbase improved greatly.

We have, plus the most successful team domestically. Yet we still struggle at times to sell out games. Why? The club seem to go.out of their way to make fans lives difficult and/or to piss them off, i have no idea why. As a season ticket holder i absolutely hate being dictated to. Told i have to attend ten games in person when life, health, travel problems etcetera means that could sometimes prove difficult. Any games i can't attend I'm more than happy to put onto the seat exchange. As a foc they will actually make money on me doing this. They also have my money upfront if it doesn't sell or i don't. Yet they still want to dictate to me and put pressure on me. Going to football should be one of life's pleasures, not a chore or a committment like going to work. Whoever runs this side of the club and makes these decisions is a cretin and does more harm than good.

I agree mate, the club really should be deeply concerned at the damage they've done to our fanbase over the last few years.

The last few years have been the clubs most successful on the field, yet we're losing fans before our very eyes. This is unforgivable.

And what's even more unforgivable is that rather than changing their ways once it's obvious we're losing fans, instead they're doubling down.

This CAN be fixed I'm sure of it, however the club don't seem remotely interested in doing so.

It's sad, but a foc like myself can step aside now. Our job is done. Myself, like many others heeded the call to arms when we were needed. I remember the club pleading with us not to desert them when we were on the verge of going out of business and had just been relegated to the third tier. Like that was ever going to happen! We stuck with it and eventually got our rewards. Sadly some, including friends of of mine, didn't live to see it. My time not only at City but here on earth is running out now. Come on, whoever is running this shit show behind the scenes don't lose what's aleays, always set this club spart from.others.

parallels with over the road back in the day becoming more and more apparent. Pay up and shut up seems to be the order of the day. Common sense creeps in for the 3rd round of the FA cup then they get greedy, ditto the CL

Suprised how many didnt bother tonight , needed the win to qualify without play offs so it had jeopardy and it wasnt like it was a dead rubber , also the return of Leroy and Gundogan ...the Galatasary fans were excellent and the City fans that where there , upped their game , and it made for a decent atmosphere all round , the Galatasary fans had one song which included beep , beeps and whistles , which was quite amusing and original ..we qualified in the end and thats probably the quickest i've ever got out of the orange car park , so thats another plus , maybe the club should look at ticket pricing , particularly when the games are coming thick and fast at this time of year , maybe sell all early round champions league games as a discount bundle , like a 5 game season ticket , going to have to be a bit creative with pricing if they want to fill the new North stand next season..

Personally i think it's too late for that. They have treated the fans with contempt for so long they've lost them. Sure they'll always support the team, that never leaves you, but it will be on streams and the tv from now on. Maybe the odd live game here and there. After thirty five years in the wilderness most long suffering fans have seen us win everything, after thinking they'd die without ever seeing us win another trophy. They kept the club alive when our recent success was as unlikely as a lottery win. Then when success came they were brushed aside and/or priced out for the newly acquired glory hunters. For many now its thanks for the memories.
Nailed it.

I'm usually in SSL0 but last night I was in CB level 0 right on the half way line. I now know that people on this thread lie about the atmosphere generated by the City fans either side of the away fans on level 0. You need to stop moaning about the club and start joining in.

Lot of foreign speaking groups in our block but all seemed to celebrate our goals.
Also a few blues leading chants in an area that is usually dead for CL games.
Might have been different had Gala scored.
Perhaps City fans will turn up next round.

Will be my last year on certain cup schemes the experience is awful, the benefits hardly exist other than a token fiver off tickets. Last night confirmed the time effort and expense are not worth it, it's like being an away fan in your own ground, our name is Manchester City but because of soriano we could literally be anyone, we have no culture no identity and the biggest disappointment, the club despite all the negatives press and 115, they have turned their backs on their biggest ally, I hope they are suitably embarrassed about last night, but they won't be.

Agreed. Some have got complacent with success although all the other issues are relevant. Tonight was a security thing etc but they need to turn up against Newcastle.
I went on a 6 flight round trip to Bodo last week ,but enough is enough of midweek games at City .
Price isn't in an issue weather it's high or low it's the day of the week and disconnect with the club that's done it for us .

Its such a shame that the club have fucked this up so badly.

Years ago, bunch of kids at footy practice youd see 75% red shirts, now its the opposite. We had a golden ticket to secure and ensure the future support of our club.
But the club fucked it up

the new stand on a weekly prem league basis will be a total white elephant and id keep it moth balled until somebody comes up with a plan on how to fill it.
Dont let the guy in charge right now any where near it, hes ballsed it right up, showing his chubby cleavage to the tourists over locals.

Said it a few times, soriano has little respect for us lot.
Hes got one of his wish list ticked off with the etihad getting the group games in the euros, now he wants a champs league final, good for his ego n all that.

In the mean time he doesnt care that the ground is empty

You definitely speak for me and probably thousands of others who have finally had enough of it.

You are so right about the club having zero identity but the buck stops with Al-Mubarak rather than Soriano, he is his boss after all. We have nearly 3 million people in Greater Manchester and millions more within a 50 mile radius we have been the most successful club in the country for the last decade and more yet apathy reigns and our crowds are down. Somebody else few days ago mentioned anttendances are much much more than they were 20 years ago they are but then again so is everybody’s. They have failed miserably regarding growing support in their own local area and alienated long standing fans, it’s all short-term brainless money making garbage, built your foundations and then branch out regarding your support.

I’m not saying there weren’t any no shows - just that the figure of 35,000 is bollocks as thousands more than that were sold. A bit like that Leipzig crowd of “38,000” a few seasons back when anyone who was there reckoned it was more like 44k-45k.
There's absolutely no benefit to the club if they under-declare the attendance, so why would they?

Admit it... it's a shitshow run by shoddy profiteers who know nowt about football.

Im 52 so definitely come into the category of thinking id never see us win anything.
I did the hard yards of home n away for years in lower divisions, was at bradford away, charlton at home, blackburn away, wembley for dickovs goal, etc etc etc and they were brilliant days.
Odd hopes of a cup run dashed at blackburn away quarter finals, spurs at home, but still went week in week out. Pearces goaless run at home!! Thinking we were certs for promotion and then european champs not long after when billy mac signed tolmie, mcnab and parlane one summer.

Then dreams really did come true didnt they.
Its been amazing.

But the club didnt ultimately want us along for the ride in the end.
Like that fella who made good and soon fucked his old mates off, but now his new mates dont want to know him. So is he gonna ring his old pals back?

Ive 2 young kids, they share a season ticket that actually belongs to my uncle who emigrated.
Id have bought them a ticket each, but the club dont want that do they. So we have a load of faff keeping my uncles ticket.
Senseless

In my seat last night, on champs league nights, id have normally been surrounded by tourists, the usual block of season card holders dont really bother so the tourists used to fill those seats, but not last night, the seats were empty.

Its going to be very interesting to see how the club plan to fill the new stand.
