Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

It wasn’t great was it. There was a ten minute spell in the first half when it was decent, but it dropped off completely in the second half.

I think I was expecting it to get going after the goals, but it never happened.

After beating Liverpool and going 3 points within the league leaders as well. I know the second half, literally nothing happened, so that didn’t help.
It's never great unless it's a big game, excluding away games. Over the last few years at the Etihad, it's obviously been a good atmosphere in games such as the derby, or a later-stage Champions League match, but other than that it's poor most of the time.

We'd just beaten Liverpool at Anfield, which we rarely do. Not only that, but to do it in that late fashion and to go 3 points off the top with it, you'd expect some atmosphere to build throughout the match, not only for the first 5 minutes.

And obviously we can all blame it on the boring style of play or the ticket prices/management but there are still 50,000-55,000 fans in that stadium every week. We're getting 20,000 leaving at 75 minutes and missing 10 minutes before/after half time and before/after kick off. It's embarrassing.

There are now several threads I could put this in but here will do.
Today I spoke to a Liverpool season ticket holder who I know well.

He can nominate up to 18 friends who he can easily transfer his electronic ticket to. There is no time limit so if he's only nominated 15 by February but can't attend, it's very simple to pass it to a 16th person.
His wife is a pensioner and also a season ticket holder. If she can't attend she passes it to her grandson. The price remains the same.
Liverpool have a policy of no empty seats and look to make it easy to pass tickets on to ensure this.

He couldn't believe the rules imposed by City. No wonder it's always full.

The early leavers really is a conundrum. I'm not saying the transport around the ground is great, however its certainly not the worst in the league, Liverpool, Sunderland and Leeds all spring straight to mind.

I'd like to see the club try and implement some sort of incentive for people to stay until the end. Potentially something like when you tap out on the Metrolink. People who stay until the end and tap their seasoncard out could get 50% off a pint the following game, or earn loyalty points.

He picked literally one of the worst games for atmosphere.

Fulham, Pissing down, Backrow 3rd tier.

Townley was a good choice but better on other days.

I'm sick of seeing "City fans are shit" videos and postings.
Especially when some posters are then using the atmosphere at Rangers v Hearts last Sunday as some kind of fair comparison.
An incredible game and a result that blew the SPL Title Race wide open.

How about comparing with Rangers v Queens Park the previous weekend?
8-0 and nothing at stake.

No dicking around on saturday now, 8pm kick off plenty of time for boozing. Title in our hands, get behind the lads.
As I always say, the bad thing about us saying things like this is that everyone who comes into and contributes to this thread are probably the ones who vocally get behind the team every game.

It’s all those who probably never venture in here who never make a peep at the ground who we need to get through to… but how do we?

Saturday will be good.
Wolves 2 Arsenal 2.
The title race is back on.
City on the beer all day in town.
The Geordies on the beer all day on the coaches.
A night game.
A City win hopefully, 2 points behind arsenal.

I hate those kind of small-time chants to be honest.
I wouldn't class either of those are "small-time" to be honest. We were signing those songs decades ago at Maine Road.

"Is this a library?" and "Shall we sing a song for you?"are the ones that remind me of giddy little clubs on their big day out in the FA Cup third round. To be fair to you you could also throw "Were were you when you were shit?" in there but these fatties have been singing this to us with zero self awareness for years now. They need it back. That's kind of my overall point.

I'm expecting a good atmosphere to be honest.

I do like the ‘EA-SEH…EA-SEH…EA-SEH’ chant and Tearing Geordies Apart Again.

Talking of Tearing Geordies Apart… does anyone know the stadium announcer bloke at City?

Can you tell him to fuck that appalling remix version of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ off and just play the proper song?
