Agree, "Escape to Victory" is far more exciting...Totally agree.
It's no more exciting than going to the cinema

They always used to in the 1960s.. People would often arrive half way through a film and stay up to the point of arrival in the next screening. And people dont leave the cinema early so you arent standing up sitting down for the last 10 minutes !
You mean the family stand that is full of kids? seems a odd choice to single out for a lack of noise?Awful, gets a bit worse year on year. Feel really sorry for those trying to get something going coz it feels like they’re flogging a dead horse. And as for the church mice supporters association in the North stand, maybe the vow of silence you took at some point needs revoking. What a load of wet weekenders we’ve become.
I can only presume the players thought it was for remembrance as other clubs have done there's this week. Was weird pre kick off, there seemed to be a few songs building but then both sets of players went to the centre circle looking like it was going to be a minutes silence or something , even the big screens went black although bizarrely blue moon was still played but to no reaction and then they all just ran off as if the plan had changed, the whole stadium seemed confused and was silent after that.
I agree with your point, as most of the ground is silent not just the North Stand. You mean the family stand that is full of kids? seems a odd choice to single out for a lack of noise?
More like 5kHated how empty the stadium was in the last five minutes.
Leaving a game early in tens of thousands is the sign of a fanbase disgusted with the team’s performance. Yet that was our best performance of the season.
Also, the players and Pep are making a point of doing a lap of honour after the game to thank the fans, yet there may only have been 7k or so left when they did it yesterday. I bet they’re wondering why they’re bothering.
What a terribly sanitised chant, symptomatic of the lack of hostility in football atmospheres nowadays. Counterproductive too, I’m sure that **** got a buzz out of hearing thousands of people sing his nameSounded loud on TV today. "Anthony Taylor it's all about you" coming through loud and clear.
Yeah I can remember fantastic atmospheres at Maine Road in Div 2 when Newcastle and Sheff Wed must have brought over 10,000 fans with them.Maybe it’s been posted already (might have even done it myself, haven’t bothered checking), but for me a big part of the problem (at a lot of grounds) is the limit on away fan numbers.
Every big game I can recall (atmosphere wise) was when there was big noisy away followings. Certainly at Maine Rd you knew whether the atmosphere would be good when you started to see how full the Platt lane end would be (when it was for away fans).
There are obviously exceptions for important games when the result itself makes it like a final, but I much preferred having big away followings (and being part of a big away following).
