I do think our library of songs is more suited to away games.
In SSL1 (especially in block 015) the atmosphere is brilliant. But, admittedly, the songs that keep the atmosphere going in that section are not brilliant for getting the rest of the stadium involved.
I'd include songs like:
- The reds are going down
- We're all going Istanbul
- Empty seats at home
- Edin Dzeko
- Best defence in Europe
etc
The songs that tend to get the whole stadium going are:
Blue moon,
Best team in the land and all the world,
WNRH,
Stand up if you love City,
etc
I do feel there are times when the singing section could do more to engage the wider stadium. I also, definitely, think there are times where the wider stadium ARE being encouraged, but do not join in for various reasons.
What I would say is when the players really need us on the pitch we are there, and we generate a brilliant atmosphere. There's a reason why players like Valverde and Trent Alexander Arnold have listed the Etihad amongst the most difficult atmospheres to play in. We are too hard on ourselves sometimes. Our support is definitely amongst the best in the UK whichever way you judge it (numbers, noise, loyalty etc).
