Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

It's a real shame what European Nights at the Etihad have become.

Didn't recognise a single person around me today, and felt like a bit of a stranger. I don't blame anyone for not bothering with these nights, and I don't blame the tourists for filling up a ground that would've been empty otherwise, but it just leads to shite like tonight.

There will come a day when the club really regrets how disenfranchised they've let their core supporters become, I think it's closer than they might like to think.

I agree.

City fans have never really taken to the CL bar the season we won it.

Up to that point, and to now, it was clear what the club wanted to do, and that was to sell tickets to anyone and any fan who wanted to watch a CL match at the Etihad. That included letting anyone buy a citizens card for the Real Madrid game. That and Madrid fans all over the Etihad was the final nail in the CL coffin for many City fans.

I think the Real Madrid semi was the final straw for a lot. But apart from 20-21 I've been to all the CL semi finals at the Etihad and the common denominator outside is the thousands of 'fans' who obviously have never been to the Etihad in their life wandering around taking tickets away from lifelong blues. The atmosphere has deteriorated every year in the Cl games.

I binned the CL off this year as I hardly recognised anyone sitting around me anymore and got bored of always finding someone in my seat on arrival and got bored of getting home at 12.30am.

Get an exciting team and the atmosphere will be there. This side stink the place out, it's been crap this last season and a bit, tonight was a low performance very similar to when we went on that awful run last season. I really hope we're not starting on that again
we’ve lost our passion mate.!The electric chair wouldn’t liven up most of our fans

Absolutely agree. We go away to Spain etc and we are up in the gods so we can barely be heard, but we let away fans and their orchestrated shite come in with a megaphone and bang their drums, where I can't get anything bigger than A4 size in the ground.

Worse of all, it doesn't even follow what's on the pitch, just some **** on a stepladder with his back to the game organising wankers with his mate twatting a drum constantly like German water torture.

Almost as bad, there is a small pocket of fans in here who worship this Tifo shite and would love a drum in the ground. The day that happens at one of our PL home games will be the last game I ever attend.

Oh and Pep, that was on you tonight, fucking gash.

Anddddddddddd relax !
Agreed. How the hell do they let in a step ladder?

It's flattered to deceive when we have had an exciting team.

It's only when the games get to quarter final level when they start getting good.

Group stage games on the whole have been pretty damn gash for the length of time we have been in the CL in my opinion.

We’ve had plenty of exciting sides and good performances and it’s still been poor.

I think this season other than the Liverpool game, it’s been really quiet at home games. I do feel like I’m at Disneyland at times and you can see a lot of city fans have stopped going.

Oooh it's the Champions League and 1,500 choreographed dancing dildoes have once again made a continuous racket while ignoring everything that happens on the pitch.
It's been like this since CL football ceased to be a novelty about ten years ago.

The chants weren’t inaudible where I was sat.

Get your ears checked out in the morning.

Or get some ear drops.

I take it you never wanted a drum kit.

Contrast that to a few stadium chants of come on City, and 2 Half hearted chants of we’ve got Pep.

I’d rather have a drum and 90 minutes of solid support and singing compared to our embarrassing support tonight.
It’s not about there being a debate about their kind of support being better than what we created last night, it’s that the away drum specifically stops us being able to get an atmosphere going and needs fucking off.

On their chants… my hearing is spot on, but I can’t recall a single tune they sang last night. I did notice they stopped now and again and started a new chant, but it might as well have been the same song for 90 minutes for all I could make out with any differentiation to the tunefulness of the chants. Every chant was to the same annoying *bang ba ba bang bang ba ba bang badabadabadabada bang ba ba bang bang ba ba bang* over and over and over over and over and over again.

But it’s not about what they created… it’s about what their drum specifically stops.

When the away fans have not been able to bring drums in on CL nights over the last few years, we’ve been able to get an atmosphere going even if their fans have sung all game. But them having a drum makes it impossible for us. With our vocal sections being within thirty feet of the away drum, we can’t get any rhythm to any of our songs over their drum beat and we can’t get any volume heard over the twatting of the drum.

We can outsing drumless Euro Ultras, but we can’t out-rhythm or out-volume their drum.

The South Stand needs leaving behind as the vocal end for many reasons anyway, but If drums are back for away fans on CL nights, the South Stand is obsolete for atmosphere for City fans in the CL.

The majority of our old school fans don't give a shit about the champions league. We were out if it for so many years, over forty i believe, we just had zero connection to it. When we did actually qualify, any initial newly generated interest and enthusiasm was quickly dispelled by some horrific refereeing decisions that went against us and the disgusting way UEFA contrived to stitch us up and get us booted out of the competition. Was i pleased we won it? Of course, just to shut the pundits and moronic fans of other clubs up for five minutes. Obviously i was pleased for Pep and the players as it meant so much to them. Also I want us to win every competition we enter.
Many more shitshows like last night and even the tourists will fuck it off.

Seem to have got into a situation where blues are blame blues for shit euro night atmospheres!
Utter bollocks!

Its ALL on the powers that be. They have continuously pushed away fans that have been going for years, even giving us a name ,’legacy fans’.
What the fuck does that even mean???
Last night was beyond awful. I recognised maybe 2/3 regulars that have sat near me for 20 years, the rest have fucked champs league off.

Where as i am forever thankful for the joy the sheik has brought us , they have got the way they treat us fans badly wrong.

Ive made no secret i know people within the club, and ive had from the horses mouth that Soriano does not give a flying fuck for the long term support, holds us in a certain amount of contempt even for blocking the way for the the tourists. Its ALL about the ££££££
Its a disaster.

We have 7000 more seats to fill. The club could Have secured our support for years to come if they had just got pricing and ticket priorities right, but they pushed us aways.
Shame on them.

But hey, the ground will be hosting england games and champs league finals so soriano will be happy with that.
