Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Seem to have got into a situation where blues are blame blues for shit euro night atmospheres!
Utter bollocks!

Its ALL on the powers that be. They have continuously pushed away fans that have been going for years, even giving us a name ,’legacy fans’.
What the fuck does that even mean???
Last night was beyond awful. I recognised maybe 2/3 regulars that have sat near me for 20 years, the rest have fucked champs league off.

Where as i am forever thankful for the joy the sheik has brought us , they have got the way they treat us fans badly wrong.

Ive made no secret i know people within the club, and ive had from the horses mouth that Soriano does not give a flying fuck for the long term support, holds us in a certain amount of contempt even for blocking the way for the the tourists. Its ALL about the ££££££
Its a disaster.

We have 7000 more seats to fill. The club could Have secured our support for years to come if they had just got pricing and ticket priorities right, but they pushed us aways.
Shame on them.

But hey, the ground will be hosting england games and champs league finals so soriano will be happy with that.
You can't knock the prices last night, if fans don't want to go it's fine, we do have a cost of living crisis you know.

Once you stop or reduce the amount of games you attend, its very hard to get back into it.
Only been to one game this season away at Brighton. That was a nightmare getting away from the ground.
To be honest I dont see myself going again.
But that's be honest football has changed, its more sterile, people like us who just buy a ticket and have a pint in the Townley or Mary D's arent wanted. We dont spend in the club shop.

All pl games have shit atmosphere and if you chat with their match going fans they all say the same as us.

The clubs, the pl, var, half n half, tourist are all killing of the atmosphere we all want.
…which will kill English football eventually.

Impossible to compete with the drum and the coordinated idiots who are on some sort of Irish dancing mission do they even see any of the game
So first step is to ban the drum

thought the club had banned stuff like that being let in? one of the teams we played over the last two years put out a statement saying our stewards took their equipment off them.
I have no idea how we get back to where we were now. Even at the start of the second half there were large blocks of empty seats behind Trafford’s net. That’s our vocal end isn’t it?

All in that DJ bar bit we have in the South Stand

What was doubly annoying last night with the drum was that for most of the match it wasn't even the whole of their bottom tier joining in. It wasn't till it was obvious we were going to continue stinking the place out and they were likely to get a win that those rows further back joined in. So we had to put up with that so a few hundred could enjoy their formation dancing club. Deffo need banning.

I agree, they geniuenly did the same song all game, at least some of the other clubs were doing different chants.

Said this before, but on our way out I said to my dad, think this needs to be the last season in the UCL cup scheme. Very few people we know are there, I had one lad watching videos including the chelsea game all game on his phone.

We've had the same season tickets in the same seats since the ground opened (bar losing mine for a few years for being naughty) but UCL games are just not enjoyable at all.

To be fair Gordon, you do live a few hundred miles away, if you were still in Manchester I’m sure you’d attend all the games.

Only been to 1 CL game I think since Pellers left and that was a free ticket.

it was getting poor in the ground when I was still going fuck knows how bad it is now.

The CSKA fans when they were banned sat 4 rows behind me in SS1 and the stewards did fuck all was when I decided that's enough for me.

As for the atoms overall, again I think I'm done after this season. Too much travelling, apart from the guys around me it's usually all a bit crap these days. I can live without winning, had years and years of that already but, VAR, timewasting, only 1 team trying to play football....I could go on.

I was intending waiting until we had a fully functional NS to see how the atmos went but, chances are I'll pick up an odd spare next season.

Jumpers for goalposts crowds have gone forever.

It’s dead now. And it’s spreading to the PL games. The club have never understood the fans’ relationship with UEFA and their shite competitions and thought they could replace the regulars with new fans, but the atmosphere is all wrong, it’s manufactured. Light shows, drums etc. all go under the column “Entertainment”. And let’s not forget those regulars now gone were the ones who created the atmospheres under Mancini and the run to Istanbul.

But hey, we’re top of the Deloitte’s league so … !

I have no idea how we get back to where we were now. Even at the start of the second half there were large blocks of empty seats behind Trafford’s net. That’s our vocal end isn’t it?
To be fair, I was as guilty as anyone for that as I was finishing my pint and didn't get back to my seat until a few minutes into the second half. Then again, I was late getting that pint as a few of us were taking the flags back to stores at half-time so there is some mitigation!

I said it the other week on here though - I thought the atmosphere against Napoli was pretty good in parts so it can still be done at CL group games.

Doubt it watching this dross and Europa League next season.
It’s a strange situation. R kid would be classed as old school but turned down a free ticket. He lives 5 miles from the ground.

Got off the train in Leeds about half past midnight. There were three young women and a young lad with learning difficulties. They wore City scarves but would be classed as tourists on here. They were smiling despite the freezing temperature.

Agree that it was poor last night. A couple of us constantly tried to get it going from the back of 115, helped by a few younger fans in front of us, with only limited success. As others have said, the lack of regulars at these games doesn’t help. There aren’t many positives to draw from that atmosphere but if I could pick one, it was good to hear a few chants being started further along the South Stand in 116/117 which carried over to our section. Also noticed some in 110/111 corner doing their best to get it going too. And a couple of chants cascading down from SS3.

Feels like every year there are less and less regulars doing CL group games though. If we get to the quarters or semis and get drawn against one of the big guns or a domestic rival, plenty of those group stage stay aways will be there and it’ll be different.
With ST price rises, fans just take the rise back by pulling out of Cup Schemes, especially the last couple of years where there’s another game to pay for in the CL League Phase and then another game to pay for if we finish 9th-24th… two potential but certainly one extra game to pay for we were never consulted over or agreed to.

Not even the players were consulted over it and we had players ourselves who were demanding something be done about too much football.

When the PL broadcasting revenue started sky rocketing last decade and has done with each renewal, PL clubs could have frozen ticket prices for general admission fans for years. Instead they’ve just priced out, alienated and pissed off core supporters and replaced us with ticket tout partners who will sell tickets to anyone with no checks on who they support. These tout partners and the clubs, don’t give a shit who’s sat there as long as the seat is sold.

They didn't do the same song all night. Lol! There's been some absolute bullshit posted about their support on this thread. I just think some of you are very bitter about a whole stadium of City fans being outsing by 1500 Leverkusen fans.

I was stood in 212 next to the Leverkusen fans. They had a good variety of chants that I could hear clearly.

If you are posting about City fans, you are correct. "Come on City...., "The best team in the land..., and "We've got Guardiola... That was it.

I dumped the FA and Cara cup schemes this season, for the first time.
After last night, I wish I’d dumped the ECL too.
I’ve been a season ticket holder for 50 years, over the last few seasons, I’ve really started to fall out of love with it all, I nearly didn’t go last night, but did, which? God only knows.
A couple of the regulars we go with didn’t go last night and I had the joy of two professional rugby players sat in their seats next to me.
Spent all night feeling squashed and small and, I’m 16 stone!
Queuing at N2, loads of foreign accents and then I bump into a women I know with her mate and son, she’s actually a Newcastle fan, but likes City and has a membership.
They’d bought and were all wearing the club shop.
She got tickets for Liverpool last week, but says it’s so hard to get any tickets together now.
That’s what the club wants, money spending fans who are waiting to be able to buy seats together, hence the expansion!!

I'm obviously in a minority, but I found it strange that when Doku scored his fantastic goal v Liverpool, the crowd immediately celebrated with a song about Pablo Zabaleta

That's like Tommy Booth scoring the last minute FA Cup Semi Final winner v Everton and everyone immediately serenading Alex Harley's winner at Old Trafford in 62

Joking aside, the atmosphere was crap last night, but despite all the flags and media hype, it was also crap at the swamp on Monday

I've attended.all 19 games this season (plus the first World Club Championship fixture in Philadelphia) but even when we were beating United 3-0 there were still thousands leaving early.

When we were hanging on at Arsenal the home fans were shite.

Grounds like Elland Road and St James' Park still have their moments, but even when only half-full, they were far more intimidating in the 80s.(especially when Alex Williams was in goal)

Selhurst Park gets all the plaudits, but it's all a bit too samey and orchestrated for me.
Give me the old spontaneous days of Maine Road cheering Gary Neville's every touch, following his legendary fuck-up, and the subsequent standing ovation when he was substituted.

I'm old school and even if we were beating United 8-0 I'd be screaming for 9. Never ever take your foot off the gas.

However last night the girl in front of me was filming the whole game which annoyed me far more than it should have done.
Give it a couple of years and it will be the norm. I won't be there and everyone will be filming in total silence

I am on the Champions league scheme but last night even prior to the score I was sat thinking this isn't for me anymore. Didn't recognise a single face around me , dreadful atmosphere, Kids and tourists everywhere and to top it off got asked to stop shouting and swearing as there where kids around so had to sit silent in the fucking freezing cold watching what was effectively the reserves prancing around half arsed. Don't want to go through that again with the added nuance of being surrounded by a stand full of Galatasaray fans , wont be going.

I agree.

City fans have never really taken to the CL bar the season we won it.

Up to that point, and to now, it was clear what the club wanted to do, and that was to sell tickets to anyone and any fan who wanted to watch a CL match at the Etihad. That included letting anyone buy a citizens card for the Real Madrid game. That and Madrid fans all over the Etihad was the final nail in the CL coffin for many City fans.
That single game and ticketing made me fall out of love with the club. Me and my lad went to every champs league home game that season, including dead rubbers, and to 15 home league games plus 4 cup games but then couldn’t get a ticket to one of the best and most memorable games in the clubs history. But hey, we got plenty of tourists paying £300 in the club shop so all good. They REALLY don’t give a fuck about the fans
