Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

You must have been gutted when Phil scored that brilliant last minute winner…or were you too busy watching the crowd and feeling miserable.
If you’ve been a match going city fan for more than 18 years you’d know that the match itself contributes very little towards the ‘matchday experience’.

You can post your little happy clappy, ‘club can’t do no wrong’, pointless posts all you like - but I’m not alone in how I feel.

What’s obvious to me is that a lot of fans are stopping attending because of the lack of atmosphere. Branding the new stand as “The New Kippax, pushing it hard as an atmosphere end and offering very cheap tickets would pay for itself with an upturn in demand.

Half price season tickets for anyone in the existing safe standing areas to relocate would be a good starting point. Some sort of reassurance that ticket prices will never exceed the south stand. Work down the loyalty points if necessary but some sort of system where groups can move would be even better. Use it as a loss leader. They can sell the seats made available through this however they want but the new stand should be in effect reserved for working class old school fans. When we moved to the Etihad we added 15,000 to the gate immediately. The same happened with West Ham, spurs and Everton more recently.

It can be done but they need to get their arses in gear.
I honestly think they just don’t care enough to do these good suggestions though.

Why bother with all that when there’s an endless number of humans who would like to tick ‘watch a premier league match’ off their bucket list (and pay handsomely for the privilege)?

So you preferred the days under Pearce did you? You are not fooling anyone here.
Never said that.

"There was more optimism following City under Psycho than a club un 2nd place."

Honestly, at the ground there are so many doom and gloom merchants who never shut up moaning and groaning and telling current players to leave. As crap as footy was in the early City of Manchester years, the perspective was much better. Less moaning too

How many supporters clubs do we have a hundred possibly more so why isn't someone from the club or someone like Kevin Parker getting round the supporters clubs and encouraging better vocal support I recall the game against stoke years ago under Joe Royle and the ground and support galvanised the team we all need to make an effort simple

That one was a cracker.

To be fair it was great only 3 weeks ago against the dippers but today it was back to being poor.

Stop it!

You keep on blaming 1894 for everything.

You really are tiresome.

Do something yourself instead of constantly criticizing 1894, who have done more than you will ever do.

It's easy to criticize from a far, and when you don't don't do anything yourself.
What did I say that wasn't factually correct?

I don't blame 1894 for everything, in fact the only thing I've ever criticised them for is the way they've handled this new north stand.

I've stood by you in protests, helped you out with displays and donated to you financially. I think the majority of the work you do is good work and wish for it to continue.

However I'm very passionate about this new stand, and firmly believe that the way that 1894 have publicly denounced it has contributed to the new stand not living up to its full potential.

I don’t know whether they don’t care or they just don’t see it. What I do know is that “the product” would be better with better atmosphere. They would sell more corporate and get more tourists.

If they handled this expansion right it could be a win win all around. I don’t get any sense that they do though.

Totally with you on this. Those “red lines” were a stupid move. I don’t blame 1894 for the lack of atmosphere at all, not one bit. But if they do consider themselves to be a group dedicated to atmosphere I believe they should be shouting from the rooftops about this new stand and trying to harangue the club and the wider fanbase into some kind of action.

They have literally offered our most vocal fan group the opportunity to be anchor tenants in the brand new 1 tier standing section, what more do you want them to do?
Exactly !! But no lets moan how shit the atmosphere is !! Blame the tourists ??? There's literally 10's of thousands of local City city fans who NEVER SING ! That's the problem, not accoustics, tourists, fans being priced out etc ! It's just bullshit excuses !!

Just fucking do it #1894
You don't need anyone to hold your hands...

I have been going to matches for almost sixty years. I go to every home match and most aways. You don’t go any more but “someone gave you a ticket. “ I’ll settle for remaining a happy clapper. I’m sorry that watching City makes you miserable. But you don’t have to be a City fan. It’s a free country.

Agreed. I've never once blamed 1894 for any lack of atmosphere, and have nothing but praise for all those blokes that sing their hearts out each week.

This is why I'm confused at JRB's comments, when all I've ever done is stated that I firmly disagree with 1894's stance on the North Stand extension, which I think I have the right to do given 1894's large following and reach

So insightful. Seems like you accept or agree with pretty much everything the club do

Do you disagree with affordable tickets? a bigger standing section? or less corporate areas?

Pretty reasonable suggestions for a home end aren’t they?
3000 rail seats ! To start with ! Fucking hell if the city fans showed some passion about making it a 'home end' we would have more....no ?

God help him if we were shit like we have been in the past !
