Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

It’s ok you don’t have to go any more. It’s not compulsory. Lots of people on here have stopped going. They keep telling us how shit the club is. But that’s fine it’s a free world. You can always go shopping instead. Supporting City is a personal choice.
90% of the reasons I gave my season card up was everything that happened off the pitch yesterday and it was worse than ever
I really thought I'd miss it and instead it's reinforced my decision

When the game turned into a proper contest, the fans got involved and made a much better atmosphere.
I sat by a lad and his Mrs who arrived after 12 mins with chicken and chips, talked about non related football stuff for the rest of the half, left with 15 mins to go , and so ,missed both of Fodens goals.

Having watched Tottenham chasing a goal v Fulham (local derby) needing their team to get a win or something out of it at least. The place was like a morgue- and an empty one at that.
The self recrimination and media onslaught we get is totally disproportionate and unjust compared to the rest of the prem. Yes, giddy Palace, on a Wednesday night, against a big club, may get tenna leaks but there is an atmosphere myth that pervades in the PL.

When it’s against big teams or we need a goal then the atmosphere is absolutely class. But against smaller teams I’d say we’re comfortably one of the worst in the league, day trippers, empty seats, complete lack of interest.

We shouldn't focus on others and give ourselves an excuse just because some are worse than us. Facts are our home atmosphere is fucking dreadful and we are showing no signs of improvement, couldn't give a fuck if a stadium 200 miles south had one just as bad.

If you’ve been a match going city fan for more than 18 years you’d know that the match itself contributes very little towards the ‘matchday experience’.

You can post your little happy clappy, ‘club can’t do no wrong’, pointless posts all you like - but I’m not alone in how I feel.
He seems very comfortable telling everyone how they should feel and “go shopping if you don’t like it” Maybe we should just all pack up then and let the tiktockers fill the stadium.

Of course mate, it's just debate and never personal as far as I'm concerned. We all want the same thing when all is said and done.

I hope you can understand why some fans feel frustrated by the way this has unfolded publicly. Not because 1894 have done nothing, you clearly have, but because once the club went quiet and dug their heels in, the whole thing basically turned into a standoff. And whether it’s fair or not, a visible group like 1894 inevitably shapes the tone of the conversation around NSL2.

In regards to the survey, were participants asked if "Despite the Clubs plans, would you still be interested in moving to the North Stand". I ask this because it seems to me that 1894 are interpreting 'Don't support the club's plans as they Stand' as 'Don't want to move to the stand'. Correct me if I'm wrong about this.

I truly believe that a successful North Stand would transform the atmosphere, and it frustrates me deeply that the opportunity is likely going to go to waste. 1894 have the reach to get people on board with it, regardless of the clubs plans. I hope we can make something work!
Of course - everyone’s entitled to their opinion and I’ll engage with posters such as yourself because I know you’re not wumming, unlike certain others on here. I was just trying to explain how the situation unfolded and how we were frustrated at certain plans the club have for the stand because they don’t square with their own stated vision of having an atmosphere stand. 1894 do have a big reach but the club have a far bigger reach. What are the club doing in ensuring those safe standing spaces are filled with singers? Have they reached out to fans who like to sing and would be interested in moving over there or is it just going to be one big free for all when the relocations start? There’s only so much a group of unpaid volunteers can do, whereas the club who have access to the full database of season ticket holders and members. There are people who are paid good money at City and they should’ve been engaging with all fans on this months ago, not just making random announcements on the website. They send shit loads of surveys out. Why aren’t they surveying fans about the North Stand?

Regardless of the 1894 stance, not every singer is a member of 1894, far from it.

You must have been gutted when Phil scored that brilliant last minute winner…or were you too busy watching the crowd and feeling miserable.
Mate, you’re a good poster in the main but you’re way off beam with that one. @Manchester33 is one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, is enthusiastic about wanting a good atmosphere (isn’t that what this thread is about?), and most definitely doesn’t moan like fuck at the match because he’s invariably busy getting behind the team. Him pointing out that our atmosphere is shit when our atmosphere is shit doesn’t make him a miserable person - it’s just him stating facts.

I have been going to matches for almost sixty years. I go to every home match and most aways. You don’t go any more but “someone gave you a ticket. “ I’ll settle for remaining a happy clapper. I’m sorry that watching City makes you miserable. But you don’t have to be a City fan. It’s a free country.
I don’t know what you’re on about telling me I don’t go any more.

I’ve had a seasoncard since I was 9 (and currently pay for 3).

There are tons of people who have either already packed it in (or are thinking about it) as a direct result of the clubs ticketing policy/fan engagement over recent years.

If that or the resulting atmosphere doesn’t bother you, I’m not sure why you’re on the Atmosphere Thread (other than to WUM).

Fans first mate the club pales in comparison to my support for the fans, and this football club needs to buck the fuck up it's taking the piss.

I am sorry you had to give up your ticket. There are huge changes happening everywhere and football is no different. I can’t go to the cinema any more because the audience drives me crazy. But I still enjoy the football. What concerns me is the negativity from some fans who seem to be feeding off each other. It can be very damaging. The country is very negative at present. The worst I can remember but football can still be a sanctuary.

Spot on. The atmosphere is poor at most PL games. Palace is a myth. It is good for the big games, like everywhere else. The Etihad was fantastic for the LFC match and our away fans were magnificent at Newcastle. Our home atmosphere is much better than the swamp these days for starters. It has always been a moving feast.

Don’t disagree. I just want a bit of context. There is too much negativity on here. A lot is driven by the state of the country and people are just lashing out randomly. Fulham will be great on Tuesday night.

Stop comparing us to others to make yourselves feel better! Others may be shit or shitter, but we have a big problem ourselves making any sort of noise at home except 1-2 games a season and that needs addressing not accepting just because other have the same problem!

I like you you're a City fan and that isn't changing it's just a shame we are run by businessmen for the benefit of businessmen mate.

We are shit though, 2nd in the league WTF is all that about?

:)

Fair comment. I am just fed up of all the negativity. It is spiralling out of control. I am annoyed as anyone is by those who don’t watch the game but a few kids with phone lights is not a big issue. Ticket prices and kick off times drive the atmosphere. The Brentford League Cup game will probably be very good. The League Cup finals have been louder than the FA Cup ones. The 12.30 games are always shit till the second half.
