Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Which very few of the arm chair fans do. (give them credit that is)
I often wonder how many away games they have been to, most probably none.
I'm not there so I will never criticise them even if the sang Old Mcdonald Had a Farm. It can be very hard to get a chant or song going when you might be spilt up and have 6 Barcelona fans an 10 Norwegians next to you.

Full credit to all Blues who put the miles in. Let them sing what they want without criticism, it's support for our team.
Leave nursery rhymes to them daft reds

We even had the Benjani song yesterday, (which like many others is brilliant at 5-0, or on the concourse pre-match) but the Amorim song just reinforces the rag myth that we're obsessed with United.

However apart from a brief HAALAND HAALAND and NUNES NUNES, It took 71 minutes before we actually sang about one of the players on the pitch

As for the prehistoric stadium and our overrated hosts, there was a classic comedic moment during the delay before Haaland's penalty, when a few Palace fans were trying desperately to get a reaction by miming the action of lifting the FA Cup Trophy

Rather than reacting aggressively the City end just joined-in
City always just take the piss......we are famous for it

That made me laugh! Took the stress out of waiting for the pen

I'm obviously in the minority, but I just find it strange when we celebrate our Right Back's fantastic assist by singing about another Right Back who left the club almost Ten Years ago.

I looked around me and it wasn't young lads or tourists who didn't know anything different

These were the regulars and the Zabaleta song is the new GET BEHIND THE LADS!

Fair enough but I'll join in when we sing about the Right Back who created the goal.

Thought it sounded pretty good on TV. Not as loud as other away games but that's to be expected. Palace is always a game where some local blues get tickets as it's such a ball ache to get to from Manchester.

Thought the Palace fans were okay as usual, nothing special. There's huge hype around them, but their ultras are more concerned by social media clicks than anything else. To be fair, the atmosphere used to be dead and it's a lot better thanks to the ultras than it ever was before and their FA Cup atmosphere for the semi and final were different level.

In terms of what we're singing - this is a group of players who need supporting. They need their own songs and their own support. We had a long period of success, with lots of players delivering consistently and having those big moments with the club. Zabba and Yaya and Dzeko were at least familiar. Those songs are fine late on when the game is won, but we could probably get so much more out of the team if the players on the pitch were getting a song from the stands.

Just a question about the Palace Ultras to those that went.
Did anyone notice any animosity/trouble between themselves ?
It seems this seasons euro aways has been marred a section of right wing ultras attacking the establshed Ultras.
I mention right wing because travelling Asian fans have been abused, Pa*is out, etc. aswell as the established ultras getting attacked.

The trouble in Strasbourg was between the Holmesdale Fanatics and a right wing group from Addington I believe.

Addington are associated with the wider football lads alliance and from what I've gathered, they're a political group that associate themselves with palace, rather than palace fans with political opinions.

There's been tension between them and the holmesdale lot for a while, but I don't think these Addington lads are particularly big in numbers, and I certainly don't think they're matchgoers.

Cheers for the reply. Another load of bollocks from the media then.
It shows we are not the only ones who suffer.

The first half wasn't great apart from the 1st 10 mins. 2nd half was much much better, really enjoyed it. Overall very decent for a Sunday 2pm.

Side note, there seemed to be an awful lot of people who clearly didn't know they were in an away end today. Maybe because it went to low points there was a crowd of people who don't usually go to away games.

As for Palace, well we all know that according to X they have the best home atmosphere by miles. Absolute silence, like every year we go there.
Palace haven’t got anywhere near the best home atmosphere in the PL.

Leeds, Forest, Newcastle, Sunderland, Villa… and even us, United and Liverpool when we get going are all miles better than Palace.

Palace have a small, often very very small (yesterday there were no more than 20-30 of them singing all game), group of fans who do sing for 90 minutes non-stop. But 21,000 of them sit in the most silent of silences in the entire league and barely ever join in with their singers.

It’s a similar pattern at Arsenal, where 95% of the Arsenal support never join in with a single song that comes from their Ricky Gervais tribute act behind the goal near the away fans. The difference at Arsenal compared to Palace is that the rest of their ground do make noise, and the songs that go around the ground are the Arsenal classics that come from the other end of the ground.

I find Palace’s atmosphere boring. Not enough of the ground sings to be classed as a good atmosphere. Although they were decent at Wembley last season in the FA Cup semi and final.

I agree with everything you've said there mate, I was making a sarcastic comment about how people on the Internet seem to have a boner for the Selhurst atmosphere.

The absolute truth is that people on X (who clearly don't go to games) see that Palace conform to this European ultra style by dressing in black and using drums, that they think it automatically makes their atmosphere the best. It's so far from the truth.

From where i was sat vs Brentford, there looked to be about .... 42k? decent turnout.

The atmosphere was a little relaxed, but there was a constant noise from South Stand, I thought it was better than some league games actually. Brentford fans were quiet, though their team didnt give em much to get behind. A relaxed pre-holiday vibe in the Etihad.

Couple of "football in a library" from Brentford but not much else until a few of them gave us five minutes of low-volume noise to demonstrate their loyalty.
