Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

The south stand is done it's had its day but is now filled with people who can't be arsed to be there when the players come out or at the end of the game and for the time in between stand in silence, something has segregated the fans in that end , they used to be one voice but now there seems to be no commaradary. Question , regardless of flags or tifos, has the atmosphere in that end got better or worse since the emergence of the 1894 group?
I’m starting to agree on your first point. On its day the south stand - the bigger section next to the away fans, can be brilliant. But how many times over the last few years has it actually been really good?

From where I sit in the Colin bell stand, it seems so split up and there’s different groups not joining in with each other. There’s a few rows at the back next to the away fans and a small section near the corner flag. Other than that, most people just stand there in silence.

It doesn’t work at all as singing end.

Not sure why everyone is targeting the south stand. I was in the family stand and everything came from the south stand. City need to get it right with the tickets in the new end or it will be embarrassing
When you say ‘everything’ there wasn’t much was there. Of course the rest of the ground needs to join in, but the south stand is the singing end, with safe standing and used to be the place that started the chants off. Why has that dropped off a cliff?

Exactly mate.

I thought the South stand was decent today, especially in the 2nd half. There was plenty of noise and different chants from the South stand today.

To say the South stand has had its day is a joke. Most of the noise and chants come from the South stand, and will always do. Without the South stand the Etihad would be completely dead. I was looking at the full length of ESL1 today. Apart from blocks 111 and 110, ESL1 was completely dead. Everyone was just sat there watching the match and not joining in with the chants.

I did go and it was shite, fucking dreadful and frankly disrespectful to our players that they come into a half empty stadium especially what was supposed to be our most vocal stand and then finish the game with even less people there, don't know why some people bother going. Why would you buy a ticket in what is meant to be our most vocal stand arrive late, stand for 80 minutes in silence with your arms folded and then leave early??

The queue at the bar was 10 deep on 38 mins today! Loads missed that second goal which was the highlight of the game!

First half was absolutely dreadful, second half a lot better.

From the NS lower you always feel that plenty of people do want to join in with whatever gets started by the SS, as long as they're the simple ones (Come on City, We're Not Really Here).

SS3 was ok second half. Bit quiet first half.

Pockets of signing around the ground generated an atmosphere in the first half despite the apparent silence from the South Stand. It improved in the second half and it was great to join in with the Edin and Yaya chants.

Pitiful numbers stayed behind to applaud the team after the final whistle.

Of course the south stand still has a place and on its day it’s brilliant. Can you honestly say this season it’s been good though?

Considering the amount of people and the noise made there previously I think it’s been really poor. I think that’s fair to say.

It was actually ss3 that I could hear in the second half. I could see the one block next to the away fans singing in ss1, but couldn’t hear it clearly from my seat.

The South stand changed when the club clamped down on fans form other blocks on SSL1 going into blocks 114 and 115 to be nearer the away fans. Every time you go to your seat you have to show the 10 stewards stood at the entrances to blocks 116 and 115/114 your season ticket on your mobile phone. As I’ve posted before, there are a lot of people in SSL1 who don’t sing at all. The new bar at the back of blocks 115 and 116 has had a big impact on the SSL1 as well. People are staying in the new bar longer, and are going back to their seats later. There is still a decent group of singers at the back of 115, but many of the fans stood below them don’t join in with the chants.

It wasn’t the worst of the season but certainly wasn’t the best. On 4-5 occasions there were two songs going at once and that stopped them spreading. I think there was about one Blue Moon and one Best Team in the Land all day. We are stuck in a rut now of consistently singing the wrong song at the wrong time.
As long as we have a 'Kippax' and a 'North Stand' it will always be 2 competing sections. It does stop songs but atmosphere is about everyone in every part of the ground, If people just shouted out for a foul, slagged the ref off, anything, but they don't.

So many people leave early to miss the traffic that by the time the final whistle has there is no traffic around! Piss poor again today, spend a fortune on a ticket and leave early for half time, leave on 85 and the rest of time is spent scrolling through their phones. Just stay at home or better still go and watch the rags!

Club needs to stop chasing the money from the tourist who will leave in droves sooner or later and start chasing the lapsed fans, the next generation of kids and keeping what die hard fans they have left.

And if it’s really about the money add a few million on to all these sponsorship deals they keep signing to cover the cost. Fuck off the ticket tout partners and get the tickets back in the hands of local blues who will continue to return as opposed who turn up once, take a few photos and fuck off never to be seen again.
