Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Already failed?

So, how many days, weeks months, years has SSL1 failed?

This thread is getting more and more knee-jerk and ridiculous every day?
Every stadium in the world has a stand that is supposedly their hard core home section with their most vocal fans, SS is supposedly ours yet those in there cant be arsed being their when the players come out, can't be arsed making any noise and can't be arsed staying until the end. When challenged their most common response is that it's not just down to them what about the east stand , colin bell ect why aren't they contributing? And it's frankly a ludicrous response, it's supposed to be the " singing section " regardless of what anyone else is doing and it's fucking silent and the only argument back is the ultimate whataboutary. It has failed to be a passionate, vocal home stand holding our most vocal supporters.

The irony of this. You spend all day everyday whingeing and fucking complaining about everything 24/7. The club, the ticketing, the press, the rags, the ticket sales, our fans, the early leavers…. You never fucking stop.

Yet the minute someone says anything about our supposed atmosphere group you get all uppity and arsy.

Grow up.

Your list is inaccurate and made up.

Says the person who is always moaning bout 1894 no matter what they do or try.

Moaning about the atmosphere. Moaning about the chants. Moaning what should and shouldn’t be sung. Telling every one to sing clappy, clappy chants, etc.

Do something yourself to try and improve the atmosphere or give it a fucking rest, instead of criticising others who are trying to improve the atmosphere and by talking to the club face to face.

Exactly.

Anyone reading some of the comments after yesterday would think the atmosphere was shit.

Some of our fans need to go to other clubs matches in the PL and see and hear first hand what their home support is like.

Spurs was shit yesterday.

Leeds was very good.

It will be, because Leeds have maintained the local and core support.

But don’t forget, Leeds couldn’t fill Eland Road when the team was in the Championship, and the support wasn’t always great then.
You keep missing the point that whatever other atmospheres are like it's irrelevant to this conversation that ours is shit. Anyone with any longevity of following us could never describe yesterday as anything other than shite and it's not OK to be shite just because others are!

I think it’s a positive step that 1894 and the OSC are taking the lead to try to get more passionate Blues in the more vocal areas of the ground (intended to be vociferous in terms of the expanded North Stand Upper).

1894 were being criticised on here when they weren’t being involved in plans for the North Stand Upper so credit is due when they come forward with practical solutions.

Thank you Tim.

At last, a bit of positivity amongst the usual backlash and negativity from the usual suspects on BM against 1894.

Is that the best you’ve got lol. The point I’ve made several times is that if City fans filled the seats it would be hard for Gala fans to get tickets outside corporate / hospitality areas. I’ve got no big issue if away fans keep their heads but it has a negative affect on the atmosphere.

You were in a tiny minority of posters who seemed to have very little sympathy for a badly injured Blue who couldn’t leave hospital for at least 10 days. You’ve got the opportunity to correct that impression. It’s up to you.

When I was wrong on the Danny Wilson stuff I corrected my position and apologised. The fact remained that City published a very misleading statement that has been proven to be wrong on a number of counts. Some Blues in that area of the ground are thinking twice about renewing. I will be renewing btw.
I think bigger allocations for away fans on all grounds would be great, especially for our away following. Our stadium will be rocking for the Lesgue Cup semi.

I’m not missing the point.

I’m fully aware of what is happening to our support and atmosphere at home. Like you I’m stood in to every home match. I have noticed how it has deteriorated over the seasons along with everyone else. But our support isn’t always that bad. Certainly not by other PL home support standards. Is it the best, not it isn’t. Is it the worst, no it certainly is not.

To add.

I did make the point about the club clamping down on (younger) fans from other SSL1 blocks going into blocks 114, 115 and 116 to be closer to the away fans. During that period blocks 114, 115 and 116 were a lot louder and much more raucous. The club brought the ticket checks in due to overcrowding in those blocks and complaints from fans who stand in those blocks. Since the clampdown blocks 114, 115 and 116 have become quieter. That’s just my take on one reason why SSL1 has become quieter.

I’ll take a picture of the amount of stewards at the entrances to blocks 116 and 115 to show how difficult, and almost impossible it isto get into those blocks and into block 114, if you shouldn’t be in those blocks. I’ll also take a picture of the area at the back of 115 on the concourse which used to be packed with singers before the match. Now it’s sparse with people drinking and eating.

Fuck off. I’ve been shouting and singing and roaring the team on at City matches home and away for 50 years. This is a thread literally titled “Atmosphere” in a Manchester City forum literally dedicated to talking about Manchester City so if I want to comment on the atmosphere or on this occasion a tweet by our “atmosphere” group I will, and will carry on doing.

So just for clarity again, fuck off with your childish “well you do it then” defensiveness. You sound like a 13 year old.

The easisest way to generate atmosphere would be to have a standing section in which supporters can stand anywhere and not be rooted to their rail 'seat'. Mates could all be together and others could gravitate towards the singers.

DD you were in the 1894 WhatsApp group for a good few months after the Leicester singing block and sadly for someone with so much to say you contributed absolutely nothing to the group when you had the ear of 200+ volunteers in that WhatsApp group. No contribution, no ideas, nothing to try and forward a discussion.

You have 2 ends to Choose from now so no excuse for you not to move to one of these, although if you did move to one of them now it would be hard to understand given you’ve had the chance to sit and shape vocal
Areas at any time over the last 13 years.

By the way all the things that we “complain” about - it’s driven by our membership because we consistently stand up for fans being attacked in home areas, or on ticket prices or on transfer restrictions on everything that affects the atmosphere inside the ground.

Club plans are highly flawed and still no price information- although we think they are planning on similar prices both ends. That being the case there’s not enough incentive for thousands of fans who are already settled at the south end to then move.

So we have what we hold.

If he put as much energy into singing at the game as he does talking about it on here the place would be rockin'

Agree City fans moan about the atmosphere but we are no worse or no better then any other pl clubs.

All hardcore fans from all clubs moan about their lack of atmosphere.

The problem is the pl and who the clubs sell tickets to.
That’s not the problem, we need to end this myth, it is down to fans. We have 40,000+ proper Blues here in every match. More than enough to make an atmosphere. We’re going to have some options that may change things, everyone who wants an atmosphere and doesn’t contribute needs to step up and contribute themselves instead of using excuses. Thought the second half yesterday was good in SS3 FWIW.

South Stand was quiet as fuck yesterday
109 sorry 009 is the new singing section with us recycled teenagers, could do with a few younger members for the soprano verses though. :-)

Youre making a massive mistake here. This is your chance and if the club aren’t driving this as an atmosphere end, you as the flagship atmosphere group should be making a massive noise about it and getting the wider fanbase involved.

The place is fucking dead mate. It’s getting worse, not better. It needs a radical solution and there’s one staring you in the face.

That’s not on us though. We said it needs 7000 singers together. The plans are a wasted opportunity.

If you take the blinkers off mate you will realise it’s the club that are making a massive mistake.

We haven’t told the club to put neutral sections in home areas of a new “blue wall”.

Just a thought with too much time on a Sunday. If there was to be a junior pen - not sure if that is part of the plans - maybe there would be the opportunity for the fans groups to reclaim the great but redundant Junior Blues brand.

I will mention this next time I go to an OSC meeting.

You constantly moan about 1894, and constantly tell fans what they should and shouldn’t be singing during the match on this thread. Yeah, OK Dave.

I’m looking forward to your first clappy, clappy chant to get the whole ground going at the next home game. Lol!
