Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Technically they aren’t, but to lots of people they are. Call it corporate, corporate lite, posh - whatever you want to call it.

From what I’ve seen prices in ss2 are about £1350 for season tickets. So completely unaffordable and out of reach for large sections of our fanbase.

Of course the people who sit there are sound and are all city fans, but for people on lower incomes or younger people - in general they aren’t sitting in those seats. There is a clear difference from ss3 to ss2, whether that’s atmosphere or the types of fans sitting in those areas. Even for fan displays, it’s often that second tier not joining in or half empty

If we want an atmospheric home end or area like that behind the goal, I personally don’t want it to be like ss2 and there shouldn’t be any GA+ seating
There will be 7,000 EXTRA seats which includes a minimum of 3,000 safe standing and 4,000 general admission seats.

Amongst these extras will probably be the cheapest seats in the stadium.

On top of the 7,000 there are the current level 1 (is this approx. 2,500 existing seats ?).

Therefore there will be 9,500 general admission / safe standing seats on one level. On this level 300 will be allocated to GA+ which will have no impact on the other 9,200 approx. fans.

The decision has been made by the club about GA+ so lets move on and address the here, now and future.

The current SS Level 0 is small by comparison. The designated singing blocks even smaller.

*Do we want part of a so called home end shared with away fans for league games and dominated by away fans for cup games? The South Stand.

or

* Do we want a big end entirely full of CITY fans? The NORTH STAND.

City have also gained a far higher proportion of "school playground support" than in previous years/decades.
However, in many cases these young supporters are probably more interested in following City than their parents

Does that make them "proper fans" or should it even matter, especially as they weren't even born when City were hosting Macclesfield and Wycombe?
There are two teachers in my family and they say that City are massively supported by the kids. They are based in Greater Manchester but have worked in four different schools in the last two years, one in Salford, one in East Manchester, and two in South Manchester. They also say that most of the staff are also City fans. The future is certainly Blue.

But can they afford to go to games regularly ??

The arrangements for the Exeter game are instructional on how to incentives & motivate young or lapsed blues.

There is a new and lost generation just waiting to be recognised, appreciated & mobilised by the club ....and 8000 additional seats to be filled every week in every competition.

If City recognise the market on their doorstep, and structure prices & conditions to mobilise that market selling out and having a 'Blue Wall' is eminently achievable.

Open your minds City cos where there's a will there's a way !!

I cannot understand how anyone who wants an atmosphere, an identity and an ongoing legacy would want the former rather than the later.

It's what most matchgoing fans, players, owners, coaches, sponsors and broadcasters have wanted since the stadium opened.

To fail in that objective now will be an act of vandalism by club & fans and one that we'll regret for generations to come.

It must not be allowed to happen !!

General Admission Plus (GA+) seats in the North Stand.

There seems to be a misunderstanding amongst some of the comments made on here about the General Admission Plus (GA+) seats in the North Stand.

More reliable posters on the North Stand Construction thread had previously identified the following -

1. GA+ seats will be located on level O at the back of that level. Approx.500 will have access to City Hall.

2. GA+ seats will also be located at the start of the expanded North Stand. Approx.300 will have access to the Cross Bar.

These are for general City fans who can and are happy to pay extra for the additional social aspects of attending matches. Blues who prefer to have access to their own bar area with the associated convenience.

It is misleading by some commentators to describe these as corporate posh seats for posh people.

City are made up of many different types of fans. We can all get along together.

The presence of 500 GA+ seats in level 0 and 300 GA+ seats will have absolutely no bearing on the atmosphere that can be generated by 7,000 EXTRA seats in the North Stand made up of safe standing and general admission.

Pricing

The pricing of the NS safe standing is bound to be the cheapest in the stadium. It will obviously be a lower cost than the existing South Stand level 0. That would be consistent with current pricing.

Facts

The facts are that the configurations of the SS, the away fans splitting the home fans, the away fans dominating cup matches, the small scale of SS0 can never be overcome. It is not a complete, entire City End. That is what we need and can now have.

Way Forward

Lets all start pulling in the same direction. The North Stand needs to be embraced.

The only logical way forward, from an atmosphere perspective, is the NORTH STAND.

We are naming a bar after David Cross, he only played one season? Ticket pricing etc sounds promising and hopefully this will be a massive success.

I was thinking the same. I was waiting for him to blow his cover by mentioning the positioning of the away end
Why, what's happening with away fans ?

Imo they should be fucked off completely, or dumped round the corner flag, thereby creating another City home end in SSL3.

Has anyone else thought of this & what are the views of other knowledgeable and informed posters ??

CITY WEBSITE INFORMATION - November 2025

How will fans relocating due to the North Stand expansion be supported?

Edited 1 month(s) ago

Fans who need to relocate have been contacted directly and offered:

  • A priority relocation window to choose any available general admission seat.
  • The option to move as a group, even if not all members are directly affected.
  • No increase in price if they move to a more expensive location.
  • The choice to relocate within the expanded North Stand or nearby seats in Level 0 (formerly Level 1).
Further updates will be shared following continued consultation with City Matters.

In early 2026, we’ll provide information about:

  • 2026/27 Season Ticket pricing (ahead of Relocates, Renewals, and new Season Tickets going on sale).
  • How to express interest in rail seating and new matchday experiences.
  • Match-by-match ticket releases for matches where the expanded section is in operation this season

What new bar spaces are being added to the expanded North Stand?

Edited 1 month(s) ago

Two new bar experiences will be introduced:

  • Cross Bar – located at the start of the expanded section, welcoming around 300 fans in a relaxed, social setting.
  • City Hall – an enhanced bar experience for around 500 fans on matchdays, and a hub for non-matchday events, located at the back of Level 0 (formerly Level 1).

Will any Season Ticket Members need to relocate when the expanded North Stand opens?

Edited 1 month(s) ago

A small number of Season Ticket Members in North Stand Level 0 (formerly Level 1) will need to relocate due to the introduction of City Hall. Fans will not need to relocate during the 2025/26 season and will only be required to relocate before the start of the new season.

No relocations are required to accommodate Cross Bar.

If you will need to relocate, you can find more information on how we will support you here.

When will the expanded North Stand open?

Edited 1 month(s) ago

The expanded North Stand’s new single-upper tier is due to open before the end of the current season.
In which case let's hope that the ground swell of opinion and proposals emerging on here are coalesced into a commonsense affordable structure which all parties can enthusiastically support.

There's no time to waste, much to do but a huge amount to gain.

Sound the bugle & charge !!

Their schools have had cheap tickets for plenty City matches which has been going on since I was at school. The Exeter game will be full of families. City do a huge amount for schools and other groups in Manchester. Unlike the parasites at Old Trafford who do very little despite their PR spin. The new stand will help because it will have to be filled and that will create downward pressure on ticket prices.

Totally agree. 300 GA+ tickets towards the bottom of the new stand will have about 1% of the impact that 3000 away fans (and a large corporate area) right in the middle of the existing singing areas currently has on atmosphere. Even more so because of the size and shape of the stand.

It’s easy to work around that and impossible to work around the current configuration and achieve any significant improvement. One drum in the away end and that entire game’s atmosphere is killed from the 2nd or 3rs minute.
