Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Personal opinion - me ranting.

It's shit because of the wankers that go but don't show any support.
Just after the non penalty something happened and I yelled out (to the referee) 'You bent bastard' I got a tap on the shoulder and a bloke asked me to watch my language! He had children with him.
It's a football match, it's where working class blokes go to enjoy a game, I bet his (grand) children know far more bad words than I do
They had sat there in silence, no vocal support, nothing. I say one so called bad word and I'm worried he'll report me and I'd be banned.
It ruined the first half for me, in the second half I fucked off and found another seat. I didn't even celebrate the 2nd goal that's how bad I felt.
It's shite because wankers want the opera, they don't want emotion.

I'm sick of it. On 90 minutes no fucker was left in the stadium and no doubt this fucker had gone as little Rupert was tired.
I'm wound up. If you are reading this. Fuck off and when you get there, fuck off again.
Any club that excludes fans for standard swearing outbursts should be deducted three points. It's a bloody football match FFS. Verbal abuse of officials, opposing players, opposing fans and under-performing players has been part and parcel of English football for several decades and should be permitted as long as it's not homophobic or racist etc.
Edit: Phone torches do not add to atmosphere and anybody waving them like the mob at the back of CB3 should be banned for life.

Unfortunately it’s the case that a lot of the people who would sing have been priced out and disillusioned with modern football or at least the experience of going to a match as a modern football fan. I know loads of people who don’t go anymore and were some of the most vociferous fans in the stadium at one point
I remember taking a dipper fan with me when we played the rags in the league cup semi final when tevez was playing for us.
Me dad was stuck abroad cos of the weather so my mate had the ticket.
Arm chair dipper never been to a game.
He couldn't believe when we went In mary ds every other person said hello to me.
Same walking to the ground.
In the que to get in.
In the concourse I bumped into lads I've known for years.
They all just know me as Buxton.

When we went to our seats I knew everyone on my row.
The row behind.
And in front.
He couldn't believe it.
I loved it the connection with the lads .
I went against spurs before Christmas.
I didn't know anyone before the game.
On the concourse maybe two or three lads from macc.
In the ground on our row.
Two maybe three.
The lads .
The old boys don't go now.
Sad really replaced by tic Tok .
Or just not welcome.
City was my world.
My one true love.
You are my angel.
You are my love.
You're man city .
Your the one I love ??.
Trouble is you don't love me anymore

That would make you stop going, fucking hell!
Not in and of itself. But the feeling that “stadium security” (a misnomer if ever there was one) will come down on you like a ton of bricks if you offend some delicate JCL by doing something as previously commonplace at the match as swearing or singing or heaven forfend standing up is certainly a factor.

Another more important reason, implicit in the guy’s post that I responded to, is the insidious creep of neutrals / tourists who now comprise a significant part of the crowd. Didn’t most of us fall in love with going to the match in part for the tribal aspect, the sense that tens of thousands of us all felt as passionate about our team as the guy stood next to us. Once that starts to wane it’s a long slippery slope to nothingness and at some point on that slope you fall down and you don’t get back up.

Today was fucking abysmal.
Wolves fans chanting "your support is fucking shit" was somewhat correct.

Contrast and compare that to our away support. I love the whole away day experience. Still very good our away support.
City need to wake up, but it is not just City, the majority of stadiums in the premier league are awful when it comes to the home support so don't be fooled by the media.
See you at Spurs

I used to get a buzz going to city.
Our fans were cool.
Loud.
Absolutely brilliant away support.
I remember going away to forest with my mate whos a forest fan.
After the game he said you could feel the stand vibrating under your feet when the city fans were going mad.
I loved it .
I took him on the kippax when we played forest at home.
He always said it was totally different to the trent end

Now the atmosphere at the city ground is far better than our ground.

Maybe I'm an old **** and need to accept this is football now.
I know it's not just city and it will get worse maybe I should be great full I went on the kippax.
Watch us when we were shit.
And when we won the treble .
Time to move on let the game evolve without me .
I don't know I miss city.
I miss the buzz.

Born blue.
Live blue .
Die blue.
Ctid x

I'm watching the charlton game on YouTube now.
I remember going to the game.
The noise was absolutely incredible.
It was about the 4th or 5th game id been to.
I can still remember my dad leaving me and my mate to go on the pitch at the end of the game.
Even on tv the atmosphere is incredible.
The kippax was full of lads.
Working class .
Normal brilliant lads.
Where are they all now..will football ever come back to working class lads or is it lost to tik tok socal media .
Middle class or even upper class people forever.
There used to be room for everyone .
Doesnt feel like it now.
Money talks

Saturday afternoon, 3pm, cold and dark, against the bottom club. It's actually ok to just go and watch a game, react to the action on the pitch, have a few pints, go home. The oppressive pressure to sing songs is getting a bit much. I love it when the crowd chants together, but I'm not really a singer. When the match is important and the game is exciting, the atmosphere takes care of itself.

We have a far bigger problem with the scourge of really early leavers, thousands and thousands every week. I wish they wouldn't bother coming at all to be honest. I get it that everyone can go home when they feel like it, but bloody hell it's absolutely chronic at the moment. Wasn't even this bad under Pearce when we only scored 1 him goal after Christmas.....maybe they didn't leave because they were afraid to miss a goal. It's cultural at this stage. On the champions league midweek nights it's much better, the tourists are mostly staying over, so in no hurry out of the ground. That's what we might need...more tourists to clap the team off.
Its bad in most grounds but we take "your support is fucking shit" to a whole new level. Its going to look even worse when the new stand opens. You really can't blame the club for reaching out to entice more tourists when the locals are so indifferent to Pep and the team. You can't really argue when you see scenes like today.

Nor good in SS3 at all.

A spoken Greatest team you'll ever see & a little Beating you when we were shit...that's all I can remember.

In addition although doing more than us the Wolves fans in level 3 were probably the worst level 3 away fans this season. That should be irrelevant to our atmosphere but it always does....the NS worries me with no banter across divide.

I didn’t think it was too bad yesterday in 015.

Highlights for me though being the usual suspects missing both goals because they got to their seats late and then went for their half time pint early ! And then another fella had a pint with him during the second half. Hats off to him !

I berated the ref at the same moment with some choice words and the young family of Blues in front of me just laughed. This happens every week.

There’s so many excuses on here for people not getting behind the lads. Loads of the “old school” turned up yesterday and were hoping for opportunities to whinge at the team but we put in a good first half performance.

I get bored to death with people obsessed with “tourists” on here. The young Norwegian lad in the row behind me who joined in with our chants, contributed more than 99% of our fans.

On the crappy Wolves championship chants. Maybe we could do with a few of those to replace the silence.

Does that really matter? Most games there’s little to no banter at all. The only sections that create ‘banter’ most of the time are the small blocks either side of the away fans

Having our fans not near away fans, or obsessed with what there doing is needed I think

City used to do tannoy announcements re swearing in the ground. I think it was centered on the FS.

Society changes, the atmosphere may well be pretty shit but, then I think if it's poor in SS3 where within reason you are safe to shout what you want I do wonder just how sanitised it is in other stands.

Think it's fair to say like Mr Mist I'd not last long anywhere other than the SS/Kippax corner but, here's the kicker I'd not go if I was stuck long-term in any other area.
