Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

I get what he’s saying and I agree, we as fans need to step up behind the team.

However I do think there’s a lack of understanding of our fanbase and some of the reasons why for example we aren’t selling out.

I sit in the Colin bell stand now, and pep will turn to the tunnel club from time to time and demand more noise. Maybe he does, but I get the impression he doesn’t really undertsandwho’s in those seats

Especially with the number of away fans in Tunnel Club.

They’ve been seen giving Grealish shit in the past in that section. And that video doing the rounds showing Leeds fans brazenly jumpinging up when they equalised was an eye opener.

Wonder how many visitors in there are fans of neither us nor the opposition, which you often clock with the tourists dotted about the stadium n’all?

I completely understand the reason why we performed as we did in the second half tonight agaunst Fulham but fuck me City if you want an atmosphere then at least maybe every ten minutes try ans attack. 40 odd thousand fans on a soaking wet night and you don't help yourselves with passing backwards constantly. A free kick near the edge of their box ends up with Donnarumma. A perfect opportunity to try a set piece free kick wasted.

Not having that mate. The game was won with a perfect first half display. We made 4 subs and contained them. This wasn’t one of those drop offs like we’ve suffered. It was a great performance given the amount of games we are playing at the moment.

Atmosphere was reasonable. Not the best but not the worst.

Edit. I missed your first sentence when I typed that.

The atmosphere wasn't bad, I agree all things considered and I did say I can understand why we we're not busting a gut for 45mins but and its all opinions I still thought it was a shocking second half where players with things to prove had no chance such was the backward and sideways passing that killled any chance of an attack. We don't need to go full on blitkreig but the odd attack in 45mins would have been a blessing. Its an entertainment business after all. Pep wants the fans to turn up and be heard, well sometimes we want the players to turn up and be seen.

Edit just noticed you're reply to my first line.

I don't necessarily disagree with the energy saving tactics, but you're right that it dilutes the atmosphere, and in truth, probably encourages the early leavers.

I've thought the same thing, particularly against United on 3-4 previous occasions when the game is won, and we're scenting blood, only for Pep to make 3 substitutions.

6-3 being the obvious example, when at 4-0 we were looking at 7 or 8

He makes the subs to keep players fresh for a 65 game season. Thats hi. Seeing rh bigger picture and one of the reasons he is so successful. This season on particular we have had a lot of tired players. Tonight I was pleased we could rotate them. It dos a double whammy when it gives fringe/returning players game time.

It’s crazy people don’t see this. Pep has his eyes on the biggest prizes. Something he’s delivered, if we count the PL and CL as the two biggest, 7X as City manager.

He’s doing it to give our squad a chance going into the summer months.

Yeah I understand all that, but I also believe that it dampens the enthusiasm and dilutes the atmosphere.

Must say I was bored for most of that 2 nd half.
As foc I can tolerate boredom but not sure the new target group will put up with it week in week out and can’t see how they’re gonna fill the ground consistently particularly with expansion and squueze on s/card members.

That was actually a mistake on my part, and you responded before I could amend.

I would never call the grammar Police
I really should have known better though because it's something I'm more than well aware of haha. 100 lines on the chalkboard - You're as in you are and your as in I loved your teams second half performance tonight Pep!

Oh we see it alright, but it also encourages a sense of anti climax, and this thread is about the atmosphere-not a breakdown of Pep's rotation.

When Pep backs the fans and speaks on their behalf I'll take note. Until then he should concentrate on another woeful 2nd half performance. The saving grace is that Fulham were shocking so they didn't score. I keep telling myself it has to get better at some point. 3 points though so at least it stays interesting.
