Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Not sure which thread this goes in, it might have helped the atmosphere. Does anyone know who the singer (with his band) is, he did a couple of songs at the front of the East Stand earlier this season.
Paul hand band ? Or someone else

On a whole I think it’s been a very positive season.

Bar a few dips for certain lesser matches at the Etihad, the atmosphere has been better this season than last season. Next season it will be even better with a proper home end, and an extra 8000 fans inside the Etihad adding to the atmosphere. Plenty of away fans have praised the atmosphere at the Etihad this season.

Our away support is the best in the PL, or one of the best. Only United, Newcastle, and maybe Leeds are up there with our away support. Every where we have gone this season, bar the odd away ground where we have been quiet, home fans have praised our away support, with many saying it’s the best in the PL.

I honestly think we are too harsh on ourselves. We should accept not every game at the Etihad is going to be a cauldron of noise, with a great atmosphere, instead of beating ourselves up about those games.

Let’s continue supporting the team and creating an atmosphere with 3 games to go at the Etihad.

Great post. I’m a bit behind with the plans for the stadium after North stand development

When you say proper home end, what are the plans re getting fans together? Do you think the South stand fans will be moved so that all “singing” fans will be together in North Stand ?

We still don’t know. We’ll probably hear something very soon from the club, as the end of the season is fast approaching.

Well said. Our atmosphere has been decent at home for most matches and fantastic away. So many stand-out away games like Leeds, Fulham, Burnley, Newcastle every time, Chelsea. The LC Final was immense. I think we will be great tomorrow as well.

To be fair @jrb you have always been quick off the mark with criticism of our atmosphere this season. Particularly at home. You've always had a hard-on as to how your fabled Euro Ultras do it so much better.

I've always maintained that we are far too hard on ourselves, so glad to see you've softened your view.

Long may it continue my friend.

TBH, I don’t think I have? :-/ Certainly not quick. Yes, I have commented on some home atmospheres this season in an honest way without going OTT.

I will admit, I have strongly defended SSL1, which has taken a lot of unwarranted and unfair stick this season, in my opinion, and it’s not because I stand on SSL1. ;-)

I compare our home atmosphere to other PL clubs home atmospheres over the season. Apart from ours, I would say only Leeds and Newcastle as a rule have better home atmospheres. United and Liverpool are probably on a par with us, with neither being much worse or much better over the season.

As you say, Dodge, long may it continue and get better next season. :-)

Think there is a bit of a myth with NUFC's home support.
They have a loyal support, but, they are the only big team, (apart from Sunderland) in a huge geographical area.
Their support at Wembley in their last 2 League Cup finals has been excellent. Both MUFC & LFC fans were overwhelmed.
But, at St. James' Park, it is patchy...

Ive been 3 times this season and only decent when they scored to go 2 1 up in league game, in both Cup games we took over

As a fellow committed SSL1'er (until recently) I agree with every single word of yours on that subject. I don't know a single mate from 116 who has even contemplated moving, it's just too much of a craic and has been for years. On the 116/117 aisle, we were the loudest, the funniest, the crankiest and the best looking Blues in the SS...and by far the best dressed.

But come on...I have it on very good authority that you'd love a drum. Admit it. Don't be ashamed...let's get it out there...just say it..you'll feel better ;)

As you say, most of their support is local nd working class. They don’t have a large tourist, day tripper, and football fan support that City and the 3 Red Shirt Cartel clubs have. Leeds United’s support is similar.

TBF to the Newcastle fans, the atmosphere at St Jamie’s Park is impressive when it gets going. And most of their fans do stay for the final whistle an applaud the players.

Very true. The scenes during and after the Arsenal win only confirmed that. I honestly can’t see many fans moving from SSL1, especially not the younger fans who love winding up the away fans to the side of them.

1894 trialed a drum and a megaphone for a couple of different European games at the front of SSL1. They weren’t taken further. I honestly don’t have a problem trialing things out. I wouldn’t have a problem with an Ultra section at the Etihad, but I don’t think that will ever happen. We haven’t got a fan base that wants that or wants to take that forward, which is OK by me. I’d definitely like to see more youth and singers in SSL1, especially in blocks 114, 115, 110, and 111. That might happen, depending on fans moving to NSL2 from SSL1 and those seats being made available to the youth and singers during the relocation period?

It will be very interesting to see how the new NSL2 tier pans out, and how many fans move there from SSL1, the Kippax Corner, and other parts of the ground, enticed by the new tier, the fan zone, the bars, and being higher up in the new ‘home end’.

I’ll definitely give NSL2 a go next season for a match, just to see what it’s :-)

To be fair didn’t quite a lot of fans move out of ss1 when ss3 opened. I think price/ cheaper tickets was the main factor

If the north stand is affordable and has a good atmosphere I think a lot will move

Atmosphere has been great - especially away from home!! . We seem to have a growing young, loud & clever support now. Clever new songs that are being copied by other fans.

Heard at all the away games where we out-sing the home fans!! Etihad can also be one of the best because all 4 sides join in.

When my ban ends in Jan '27, I'll be a fully fledged matchday member until I pop my clogs, as I can't see me ever being able to access another season ticket. In which case I'll seat-surf to wherever the availability is and take in the North Stand, but I know full well I'll gravitate back to 116. That's where I've witnessed history and made friends for life, it really is that simple.

There is a interest in the ultra scene in the UK, definiteMy see more blues up for doing it, spoken to a few, but many don’t go every game

Away support was fucking brilliant at Burnley. Was sat in the home end as was a lot of other blues but it was good to get the perspective of how the opposition fans would see and honestly was fantastic. Got some great videos but idk how to upload.

Sometimes it just clicks. Don’t know what the rest of the ground thought about the atmosphere from the North stand where we sit but quite a few songs got started in here and travelled round quite a bit against Arsenal.

I think the atmosphere next season will be as good as it’s ever been simply due to most of those in ss1 and 2 are likely to relocate to the top tier of the North Stand which hopefully will have greater acoustics
But I also don’t believe many are going to relocate from SSL3 I’m in there and the atmosphere is ok and on big games immense
If most stay we will end up with both ends of the ground creating a lot of noise
Some of the best atmospheres at Maine Road were that season in Div 2 when we played Leeds Wednesday Palace Newcastle Etc and not just the old Kippax but massive mobs in the Platt Lane/ Main Stand
