Oh David Silva,
oh David Silva,
he scored the 5th goal at Old Trafford,
oh David Silva,
oh David Silva,
he is the Maestro of Maine Road
6-one.

The original first line was "his name is silva". And the '6-1' is a later addition. But of course, every match going fan knows that is the adopted song,
Really?! I've heard it about ten times in two years! I've heard the Zaba song sung ten times in one match!

That's because most people don't like this Silva effort. Good tune, shit words. That's why it's rarely sung.

It's sung a lot more than any other David silva song, and has been for the last two years.

Are you one of those clowns who posts your own camp version every week on Bluemoon and then can't understand why it isn't sung in the ground?

The whole thing has changed though.

If I remember right there were loads of gangs of young lads aged 15 to 21 in the old days.

Full of energy and anger.

It's all gone.

No but there was a good one posted by a poster whose name starts with 'p' (sorry fella can't remember your name) which would be a good stadium song which I have reposted in that thread. It's not camp and it doesn't have our derby rivals stadium name in it neither.

You're right, it has been sung a few times and more than any other Silva song but there's a reason that it's sung so rarely and half heartedly when it is sung.

Maybe we just need a few simple chants instead of songs which apart from" blue moon" and" we are not really here " are difficult for the general fans to sing along with as they are new and probably cannot be heard by some areas of the ground. Simple chants like ", city, city ,city, city " etc were regular chants at maine road for getting the fans behind them . Keep it simple and the mums dads and kids will join in. My own opinion anyway for what its worth. Songs are very difficult to spread and generate atmosphere, you want to impress Silva how about ,Silva ,Silva, Silva etc you think he is going to know a song is being sung about him when he is playing at full tilt .

How about "is there a fire drill" at 80 minutes?

Love it, that would be so cool Psychodelic, thing is they go early to avoid the rush, but because so many leave early they find out they are in the rush of their own making that they try to avoid .

Pretty much. Only gets sung a couple of times a year when David Silva is playing above even his normal level of genius. Reason being it hasn't caught on because the lyrics are a bit naff.
Our efforts for David Silva have been so piss poor when you consider how great a player he is. He's played for us for four years and the songs most popularly sung in his honour are One David Silva and Dave, Dave, Dave.

We've lost 3 generations of fans/support to United. Like you say, if you look at our home support, and especially our away support, it's mostly middle aged and older, with some younger Lads making up the numbers.

I went to United on the Cheadle coach. Most of the People on the coach were middle aged Men, with a few younger Lads, Women, and Girls. TBH it looked a very handy coach. ;-) The support inside OT was pretty much the same, except for more younger Lads.

Compare and contrast to United. Their away support is much younger( 3 generations, now in their twenties and thirties) and well organised. You can't get away from the fact that they have had a very vocal away support for a while. It's like they took it upon themselves to improve their away support, as their home support has always been poor, bar the big games. That is mainly due to the Tourists and Day Trippers that fill OT.

Now their fans have taken it one step further and have engaged with the club over a period of time, and are about to create a dedicated singing section, holding up to *1600 fans*, which if we're honest is pretty impressive. This after the fallout with the Glazers. What's changed?

City need to do something similar. It's all good and well giving the 1894 group 50/100 seats in the South Stand for certain games, but that isn't going to change the atmosphere. Ask yourself this question. Apart from on here, when was the last the club advertised or pushed the 1894 relocation matches on the OS, their Twitter, Facebook pages, before, during, or after the match, or in the match programme, etc? Exactly! It's like they want to do it on the QT via the 1894 Group instead of getting behind it in public and promoting it themselves. Why?

What City need to do is get behind this clamour for a proper singing section at the Etihad. They need to push it and tell the fans it's happening. They need to be seen to be proactive. There is 15 months until the expanded South Stand is completed. That means they have 15 Months to turn blocks 115 and half of block 114 into proper singing sections, and to organise a relocation. They did it with the North Stand, which is now the Family Stand, so there's no reason why they can't do it for one and a half blocks.

City frustrate the hell out of me at times. They are pro-active, they do make the right noises, and they do say the right things, yet you know damed well everything has to be evaluated, and has to go up the chain of command before it's signed off, and even then if those at the top don't want it, regardless of it's merits and the clamour for it amongst the fans, it isn't going to happen.

Timeline:

Original Singing Sections, The Family Stand, City Square, City Circle, Jammie Oliver, Free WIFI, the new Training Academy, expansion of the North and South a Stands - a genuine singing section in block 115 and half of block 114?

Sorry-I didn't realise I had to ask your permission to leave early on Saturday for the following reason...Work.
I'd love to be a Mon-Fri worker, you know every weekend off so I never have to worry about booking time off for the game etc but unfortuantely I was dealt my lot in life and I stick with it.
Remind me to text you to ask permission nex time I am due in work after a game (and yes 3 minutes does make a huge difference)...
I am glad your blue cock is bigger than mine.I will sleep easier knowing that.

jrb its possible I briefed you in barcelona when we had the quick chat that 1894 group saw south lower 114 and 115 as good areas to get singers in adding to what we have in 110-111 and 116-118. so that's been mentioned to the club and to kev parker mcfcsc already.

utd have given a couple of people with massive egos a singing section but lots of people have to move seats because of it. loads are unhappy. utd don't care about their fans all of a sudden. its a glazer gimmick cos they think all fans want it and if it means full houses again next year cos "everyones happy" you bet pr wise they will try and seem to be fan friendly.

so we see 2015-16 as a chance for moves to take place as that way existing singers dotted round the ground can have a chance to relocate to south lower and we can build something. most importantly no one gets pushed out of their seats. so you don't alienate anyone.

when we have had singing blocks its with 24 hours notice as cup scheme people and cup scheme relocators come first. so we have to work with what we have and often only get 50/60 in a block cos people cant be arsed moving again so late on. but at least the club engage with us.

we had an open meeting with the club start of the year. 80odd people came. we plugged it on here. we will most probably have another one august time again. if you or anyone else wants to discuss expanded singing areas and what we can do please attend when we do it again. everyone on here could have come to the last one but apathy/couldnt be arsed didnt come and guess what, slow progress again. if people want things to change get off your arses and get involved. another wasted year

Just saw this pic of them in Munich and made me think of this post.

I'm probably in the same generation as some of these lads and often do notice a shortage of this age group at the Etihad.

But the good sign is there are many kids/teenagers now, so our success is leading to us winning the hearts of a new generation.
